We do not have to wear a badge of shame because we all made the choice not to have a child. It is an everyday event and, as a society, we need to learn to understand that.

NO! Society DOES NOT have to condone or "understand" your selfishness.

Actress Ellen Burstyn (The Exorcist) writes in her recent autobio about her abortion (in her 20’s).

Much later she saw a picture of a baby at the same period of gestation as when she aborted.

She said she had no idea it looked like that, that she was aborting a real baby.

Her mother responded with “what did you think it looked like.”

Coutse evil Planned Parenhood won’t ever tell the truth—referring to the unborn baby as the “product of conception.”

What a ridiculous line of reasoning: because something happens, it ought to happen. Because it ought to happen, we must “understand” it.

...we are murdering our unborn babies and acting immorally. We are snubbing life – not just life, a baby's life. And, these days, babies in the womb have been given faces, names and characteristics through sophisticated technologies such as 3-D scanning.

She got that right. I have several friends who have had abortions; some have had more than one. One, who is now a nurse, cried to me "What have I done? What have I done?" and it broke my heart, because she knew exactly what she had done and lives with that knowledge and a shrine to the baby so she can remember. Another "hooked back up" with the guy who fathered her first aborted baby approx 4 years later for a repeat performance. Massive depression followed, along with alcohol dependence. A third had two abortions and gets consumed with sadness on the anniversaries of her abortions, the anniversaries of the would-be due dates, and when friends or co-workers have babies (and she keeps adopting more cats). The fourth, agreed with her husband it was "not the right time for this baby to enter the world," had the abortion when their first two children were approx 7 & 11... so there's a lot of children I look forward to meeting in eternity and grieve their murders and the lies that are used to justify them. All but the 4th experience a great deal of pain over what they have done; none of them believe in God or Christ; and the 4th believes in karma, anthroposophy (Steiner/Waldorf), Kali, the Hindu goddess of destruction, astrology, and Crowley's "The Whole of the Law Shall Be Do As Thou Wilt" - but also thinks and war is bad and peace has a chance, all the while defining herself as an anarchist (even when I point out that she stops at stoplights!). Those concepts fully support her "choice." The bible is right-on about people being deceived; this is the biggest example - this and the proud mothers of suicide bombers. God help us.

What can one say? I hope she will find peace and forgiveness when she realizes the destruction of innocent life.

The title should be, “Why I killed two of my own babies.”

Or maybe there isn’t really any reason to write an article like this.

“Some hard-line anti-abortionists will tell you that there is no real difference between getting rid of an unwanted pregnancy at eight weeks and at 24.”

Which is really stupid, because it has been scientifically demonstrated beyond all question that at nine weeks the Blue Fairy comes and turns the clump of cells into a real baby with her magic wand.

There is, of course, another perspective that women who have had abortions take:

"I've been wanting to write you since meeting with you last December. I have been referred to Project Rachel via a friend...who is very much involved in the anti-abortion movement and serves it so well.

The purpose of this note is to say "Thank you." I'm not sure why it has been so difficult to articulate the profound effect the meeting had on me. Words seem inadequate in this instance to express my gratitude. I have struggled greatly with the aftermath of my abortion. My previous attempts to reconcile were unsuccessful. What was different this time was the absolute and complete acknowledgment of the baby destroyed. It was no longer just a "little bit of tissue" or a "blood clot" that ceased to exist. So much of the pain I've felt through the years has been for that unborn, discarded, and denied human being.

So when you said, "You can name your baby," something shifted for me. I will never forget those words because he then became a baby, at last retrieved from the garbage pail into which he was so brutally tossed. Thank you for acknowledging him, for helping me recover him, for restoring the dignity I denied him. I can now be a little easier with myself knowing he's been taken care of-that he's been lifted from the depths and placed so lovingly in God's care. I've named him Matthew Joseph. I hope you'll say a prayer for him.

I have one more "thank you"-thanks for representing Jesus Christ so well with me".

***

"I've just attended the healing service, "At Peace with the Unborn," held at (our) church. The feeling of peace in my heart right now is beyond belief. The grief and burden that has been with me for too many years is lifted. It was a totally beautiful and purposeful service!

I pray that this service reaches all women who share its need. Thank you for bringing this service to us. Sincerely, A Catholic who has come home."

Has anyone contacted the Telegraph to ask when the article about the women who chose to let their babies live will be running?

“We do not have to wear a badge of shame because we all made the choice not to have a child.”

It isn’t that you chose not to have a child, but rather that you paid someone to kill the child you already had.

It is an everyday event and, as a society, we need to learn to understand that.

Islamic crazies strap bombs to themselves, go into crowded places with women and children and blow themselves and others up. We don't need to understand that. We just need to condemn it for the horror that it is. Whether the killing is done in a public market or in the sanctity of a sterile abortion clinic does not change the horror.

The implication is that a woman has got pregnant because she is an irresponsible, selfish slut who doesn't care about the life of her unborn child and cares only for herself.

Lucy is correct. Except I wouldn't imply it, I'd actually say it.

Something I wrote in the 70’s...Hope she reads it and takes it to heart...

I’ve got a son that never came.
One that flew kites and arrow-planes.
One that danced in the springtime rains.
Don’t know why or who’s to blame.
But I’ve got a son that never came.

Bullfrogs and butterflies he’ll never see.
He’ll stroll through an open field, but not with me.

There was a time his heart beat strong.
It beat with rhythm as in a song.
And to me his love belonged.
Don’t know why or what went wrong.
But there was a time his heart beat strong.

It’s left in my mind and my heart will tease.
There’s no love in my life for my son and me.

Before I had a chance to fight.
They took my son up a flight.
To a room to take his life.
Don’t know why I had no rights.
Before I had a chance to fight.

Then five months early they stole him from his womb.
Laid him in a corner and watched him die in his tomb.

But for one split second I thought I heard him cry...
“I’m gonna have to leave you now. I love you Dad. Goodbye.”

Abortion is also something that seemingly has nothing to do with men.

Thank feminism for that one, dearie.

While the author is to be commended for her candidness, it ought to be obvious that NO MENTION WHATSOEVER was made regarding chastity and waiting for marriage. Then all the heartache of the other 99% would simply disappear into nothing.
