Notorious D.C. Madam Debra Palfrey, whose long list of powerful prostitution clients kept the nation's lawmakers quaking, was murdered!
That's the buzz rocking the Internet and filtering through political circles after she was found hanging by a nylon rope in a shed next to her mother's home in Tarpon Springs, Fla., earlier this month.
Just weeks before her death, Palfrey, 52, had been found guilty of running a call-girl service that catered to Washington's power brokers.
She faced four to six years in prison and was stated to be sentenced on July 24 but was appealing the vereict.
So far, police are treating Palfrey's death as a suicide--but suspicions run rampant that she was killed to prevent her from naming clients.
"This was a woman who was still appealing," wrote an Internet poster. "Why would she kill herself if she was trying to clear her name? She had big-name clients. Any one of them could have easily had her killed. It happens."
Hustler magazine pulbisher Larry Flynt, who was one of Palfrey's strongest supporters, believes she was murdered and says the medis "should be very cautious in treating this as a suicide."
Louisiana senator and father of four David Vitter has already admitted being a client of Palfrey's escort service.
Sources say she was in a position to being several other Washington bigwigs to heel.
National security expert and journalist Wayne Madsen claims Vice President Dick Cheney is among the heavy-weights on Palfrey's list.
"This case smells," a Beltway insider tells GLOBE.
"It's just too convenient. She knew she could ruin a number of D.C.'s biggest players--and they knew it too!"

But this whole thing stinks of a Vince Foster style murder.
The DC Madam probably had serious dirt on the Clintons, and we all know how long a person lives once that person becomes a threat with the information.
Stop and think about how much money NBC and Disney are losing by REFUSING to both re-air and release their "Path To 911" film.
My theory is that the Clintons made a few threatening phone calls, and NBC then agreed to lose the millions of dollars in advertising sales from both an encore broadcast and DVD sales.
They have power, and they are mean.
What would have stopped their operatives from strangling the DC Madam, and then make it look like a sudden suicide?
Remember Vince Foster? If you believe that he committed suicide, there's a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.
Actress Adrienne Shelley had been dead and buried before a detective took a second look at her hanging suicide and realized she had actually been murdered. Her killer eventually confessed and was convicted.
I remember however that he said outing the Republicans is more fun.
Very interesting. Do you know approximately when and where the Adrienne Shelly murder occurred?
Adrienne Shelley was found hanging in her bathroom on November 1, 2006. Police arrested her killer 5 days later. At no time did the police treat it as anything but a homicide.
Lack of motive?
If this was the Clinton era, I’d believe the premise. However, Bill’s not in power, and neither is Hillary (yet?).
It appears you are correct.
I recall reading an interview with actress Keri Russell where she talked of Shelley's funeral and how no one in attendance could understand why she killed herself.
Until Dr. Michael Baden examines the body, I don’t believe it was a suicide.
Too many other people had an incentive and motive to see this poor woman dead.
Did this woman know how to tie the rope to ensure her hanging would work?
The whole scenario is ridiculous. And what did the suicide note say? Whose fingerprints are on the note?
Professionals could have done the job in minutes while the mom was distracted or out. And they would make it “look” like a suicide.
Hanging is not the usual MO for woman—and when a high profile woman with information on political hacks dies that way, the BS meter pegs.
Some of the early media reports said “possible suicide” not sure where they got their info...most likely they made it up.
Just about any knot would do, wouldn't it? So long as it wasn't a slip knot?
Good grief.....Cheney would NEVER do that. Stop repeating that crap.
The Globe and The Enquirer are owned by the same company.
I shoulda put (/sarc) after that comment.
sorry.
“So long as it wasn’t a slip knot? “
I thought that an actual hanging noose was, in fact, a slip knot.
The whole point is for it to jerk tight, and snap the neck.
Every hangman’s knot I tied was a slip knot.
bttt
As much as we’ve disagreed on here this time I was agreeing with you.
IMO it was most likely a hit but it will never be proven.
“it was most likely a hit but it will never be proven.”
Exactly what I was thinking.
(we’re debaters, but we’re not haters.)
: )
Here is some info I found:
Hanging
While accidental hanging is rare, and homicidal hanging is even rarer, hanging is the third most common form of suicide and accounts for 16% of all male, and 13% of all female suicides. Most people who commit suicide by hanging, jump from a chair or a ladder, choking to death slowly. Rarely is the neck broken. In order to break a neck, a drop of six feet or more is required, which rarely happens except in execution hanging.
Hanging, whether done with rope, an electrical cord or a belt, always leaves an inverted V bruise, and is easy to tell from ligature strangulation (murder), which leaves a straight-line bruise. Hanging compresses the veins, but arterial blood flow continues, causing small bleeding sites on the lips, inside the mouth and on the eyelids. As with ligature strangulation, the face and neck are congested with blood and become dark red.
Ligature strangulations are almost always homicide and the victims are almost always women. Often the murderer uses more force than necessary to kill the victim, causing deep bruises and abrasions around the neck. The victim will usually struggle, which results in damage to both the interior and exterior structures of the neck and throat.
Accidental strangulation is rare, but does happen, usually when a tie or a scarf gets caught in power machinery. Consider causing a murder that looks like an accident by catching a woman’s scarf into machine gears. Or hanging a man by pushing him off a chair and making it look like suicide? The police would have a very tough time proving it wasn’t.
