Its touted as a superior renewable fuel but challenges have stymied the industrial-scale production of biobutanol. Now, however, Dupont and BP have teamed to develop and commercialize the fuel. This comes as scientists announce advancements in the design of process technologies and the engineering of microbes aimed at improving the economics of mass-producing biobutanol.

The good thing I hear about it is that you get an 18% greater energy yield than ethanol using a similar process.

Just drill for oil....it gives us gasoline and diesel which gives us the most energy per unit of volume. Biobutanol does not do a thing to reduce CO2.
Nearly as many BTU/gal, misicble with gasoline, doesn’t suck up water.....if you just have to have an alcohol, this is the right one.
