CRAWFORD, Texas -- The president's 1,600-acre ranch in Crawford, Texas, is all gussied up for this evening's wedding of Jenna Bush to long-time boyfriend Henry Hager. President Bush will walk his daughter down the aisle before about 200 friends and family members in a very private outdoor ceremony.
The festivities got under way last night with a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents in the tourist town of Salado, Texas, about 54 miles from Crawford. There'll be a barbecue lunch today back at the ranch. The father of the bride uses his weekend radio chat today to pay tribute to her and her mother, the first lady. Bush calls it "a joyous occasion" for the family and especially for Laura Bush. He notes that she'll spend Mother's Day weekend watching her daughter walk down the aisle.

Best wishes, indeed.
I doubt tht TMZ will be flying helicopters over to grab a picture!
“We will be laughing, weeping, hollering,” predicts President George Bush. “It’s going to be a great time.”
Geesh...why the quotes, writer???

I doubt the writer is doing anything other than attributing a direct quote.
I love weddings!
Usually using quotes like this is derisive.
Jenna will say “I do” near a lake at the ranch, in front of the giant cross made of Texas limestone that will serve as an altar. The cross will be a landmark at the ranch for years to come. The president said that was his contribution to the wedding that the Bushes are trying to keep a low-key affair.
“I’m so excited and thrilled for Jenna and Henry,” First Lady Laura Bush told ABC. “They’re very, very excited. ...I know the wildflowers are blooming and it’s very green. We’ve gotten some good spring rains, and so I think it will be really, really beautiful. It’s going to be a wonderful celebration with her closest friends and family.”
ME TOO! I remember the moment my Dad was holding my arm right before he walked me into the chapel... It was one of the most touching moments, and I know what Jenna and her Father will feel today in that moment.
Jenna will be married in a sheer organza dress designed by her mother’s favourite, Oscar de la Renta. It will be, we are told, “simple and elegant”. The 14 quasi-bridesmaids, known by Texan lore as attendants at the “house party”, will be kitted out by a local designer Lela Rose who, inspired it might be thought by her own name, has chosen the theme of native Texas wildflowers as her inspiration.
Jenna’s twin, Barbara, will be the only bridesmaid proper, with her own unique dress coloured to match her eyes.
Blooming wildflowers dot the prairie landscape as far as the eye can see, setting a colorful stage for first daughter Jenna Bush’s sunset nuptials on Saturday the first wedding in more than 15 years of a sitting president’s daughter.
Hmmm? I wonder what the Democrats radio response today was to this?
I can’t wait to see the photos. :)
The Wedding Dress. Jenna has described it as “simple and elegant.” Well, it’s how you define “simple.” Her gown was created by the house of international fashion dahling Oscar de la Renta, who also designs for Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. The dress is made of organza with intricate embroidery and matte beading and a small train. That’s all that’s been revealed, so the big question remains: Will Jenna go strapless? The inside word is: “Yes.”
The Big Stone Cross. The exact dimensions remain secret, but the president called it “giant.” The limestone came from a local quarry, the same one that furnished the stone for the Bush ranch home. The cross/altar will remain as a permanent landmark in front of the Bush lake.
The Bridesmaid’s Dresses. No military-style uniformity: Each of the 14 members of what Texans call “the house party” will wear a different gown.
Jenna’s twin sister, Barbara Bush, serves as maid of honor, appearing in a long, shimmering, moonstone-blue silk number with an open back accented with a silver sash, designed by Lela Rose. The other gowns will be cocktail-length in blues, greens, lavenders and pinks, with handmade chiffon flowers echoing the wildflowers now in bloom on the local prairie.
The Ring. The diamond is a Hager family heirloom, placed in a new setting that includes sapphires.
Best wishes to a lovely couple.
Hey, I’ve got a question about another pubby presidential daughter that I hope someone in freeperland can answer. Why does Julie Nixon Eisenhower list as part of her experience as being on the board of “Obama for America”?

Meanwhile, the hapless Chelsa is still a working girl
