Groom, many guests of one wedding will be on call for another - that of the president's daughter
Saturday, May 10, 2008
WEST Nora Bartosh has been waiting for her wedding, scheduled for today, for the past six years. Now, the 34-year-old West drugstore clerk is worried that a president's daughter could steal her groom and thus her special day.
The groom, all eight groomsmen and about 150 of the guests work in McLennan County law enforcement. That leaves Bartosh hoping that everything goes smoothly in and around President Bush's Crawford-area ranch today as first daughter Jenna says her vows. If it doesn't, most of Bartosh's wedding party in the town about 18 miles north of Waco could be called out on business.
The groom has been "relaxed and calm about it," she said. "I'm the one freaking out. I am worried. I'm a lot worried."
And there's reason to do so.
"Whenever the Secret Service request our assistance, we are there," said Chief Deputy Randy Plemons of the McLennan County sheriff's department, who was invited to Bartosh's wedding. "So we always have enough staff on hand. Everybody's on call, of course."
But Bartosh isn't rescheduling. Let Jenna Bush do the rescheduling, she joked.

I don’t necessarily think that she’d (or any other Presidents daughter) be pretentious if she were having her wedding at the WH.
When I heard the wedding was going to be in Crawford, the first thing that came to mind was that down the road she’d regret not taking the opportunity she had.
Anyways, I’m sure it will be a beautiful wedding and all the best to the newlyweds. May they be blessed with lots of children.
This is a non-story. It is totally made up. Its only purpose is to give Bush haters more reasons to hate him. The writer of this story should be taken to North Korea and dumped.
Kids are so busy in these times. She can't figure out when to have her party because there are so many conflicts - her's and her friends.
Exactly!
Really, the nerve of Jenna to schedule her real wedding the same weekend as this woman’s fake wedding.
Nora, just curious...if they’d just had tornadoes and your husband had to work, would you be blaming God?
This other bride probably didn’t go to the newspaper with her story. It sounds like she’s put a lot of time and money into something special. If you have ever had to plan stuff around someone being on call then you know that sometimes you have to work around the what ifs. I didn’t read that she said anything bad and actually joked a little. My best to both brides, esp the one whose husband and wedding party is on standby to protect the other bride.
Anything, anything to slam the Bush family.
always. This time, next year, many may be wishing he was still in office.
“I cannot believe that a girl would pass up the opportunity to get married in the White House...unreal.”
Thanks for saying this so I can heartily agree. I’m not even into big weddings, but for the White House, well.. let’s just say I’d jump at the chance.
We’re going to Washington on monday. I hope the President
plans to be back at the White House to greet us!
Who’s on the guest list at the ranch? There might have been too much politics involved to consider it at the WH.
They ELOPED in 2002 and now they are having a 300 person wedding with a white gown??? WHAT A FREAKING WASTE OF MONEY!! How does he afford this on a policeman’s salary??? Feeding 300 people is NOT cheap!
Well, there seems to be one.
On the other hand, any guy who buys it probably won't wear the pants in the family.
Lady, no one cares about your wedding... now for the kolaches produced in West... that's a whole different story.
If Jenna Bush had her wedding at the White House the liberal scum media would be complaining that she was spending tax payers money on an ostentatious wedding.
“The groom has been “relaxed and calm about it,” she said. “I’m the one freaking out. I am worried. I’m a lot worried.”
I doubt this marriage will last.
LOL!!! Very funny indeed!
Maybe Jenna's wedding will save him from a lifetime of a "freaking out" wife.
