For decades the national dish has been a staple meal on the national carrier.
But now British Airways has taken beef off the menu for economy passengers amid concerns about its "religious restrictions".
The airline has instead switched to a fish pie or chicken dish option for the so-called "cattle class" passengers.
BA's second-biggest long-haul market is to India, where the majority Hindu population do not eat beef because of their beliefs.

peanuts offend me!
I’m offended by people killing fish and chicken! I think they need to make soy patties. It really is a GREEN thing, as these flatulating cows are killing the ozone. So BEEF be gone! Now pass the pork so I can offend another religion of peace!
My God, how spineless. Just douse the whole damn everything in curry and nobody will know the damn difference.
Or flash a sign that they are British cows and so there is no risk you are eating a reincarnated ancestor.
Jeez. The world is going nuts. I am waiting for the “Come Up Here” voice every day.
All of the Brits have turned into pantywaists.
How lame. This political correctness crap has gotten way out of hand. I suggest BA fix a chicken and a beef dish and be done with it. If you’re vegetarian or some other “special needs” person, make special arrangements before hand or BYO, or ride a boat or a bike, whatever works.
Why feed the “cattle class” at all? Next they will ban any food for those passengers.
Why couldn’t Spineless Airways just leave it on the menu and tell these towel-heads to: suck it up...there are other people that live on this planet too, you know.
“Pretty soon it’ll be just air and water, and tell you to drink plenty of water before boarding.”
But then they’d have to provide bathrooms.
Your mis-characterization of Hindus is downright laughable. "turbin (sic) tops"?
hehe
I bet it was just as much to save money as anything else. If given a choice themselves, I have found very few Indians to judge what the rest of us are eating.
India has a large population of Hindus. Indians wear turbans on their heads. Is that connection clear enough or do I have to write it in crayon for you?
A recent poll of our polled bovine friends indicate that 99.44% of them are reincarnated Hindu and encourage the increased consumption of chicken, fish, snakes and rodents. Save the life of a reincarnated Hindu friend....”Eat mor Chikin” http://www.chick-fil-a.com/#thecows
