Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.

Should Barack He Whose Middle Name May Not Be Spoken Obama get a compliant Democrat Congress and Senate, the damage done to this country and to liberty as we have known it, would be incalculable. He is the most dangerous presidential candidate since Henry Wallace.

OMG, dear DMZFRank, you squarely hit the nail on the head here IMHO.

I want to thank you so much for the link, The Obama File.

BHMO [Barack Hussein Mohammed Obama] has been front and center on the public stage for two years now, and yet we still do not have a clue “from his mouth” about what he actually thinks and believes, as a man let alone a presidential candidate. For this reason, I continue to think my original instinct about this guy is still spot-on: He is a stealth candidate, operating a stealth campaign, just trying to fly under the radar.

For some strange reason, the MSM gives very high marks to Obama as a “great public orator” for his “soaring rhetoric” and his “racially healing messages” along the lines of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Yet I note that Obama’s great speeches (e.g., the Philadelphia Speech in which he supposedly “distanced himself” from his pastor of 20 years, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright) have been read off a teleprompter. (The Rev. King spoke from his heart, not from a teleprompter.) In one-to-one conversations with reporters/interviewers, the man comes across as barely articulate in the English language. Go figure.

The upshot is that he wishes to maintain his status as a “stealth candidate.” And he hopes to get away with that by saying a great deal about what amounts to nothing at all on rational analysis.

And so I am deeply grateful to know that “The Obama File” website exists. It appears to provide exhaustive, verifiable evidence regarding BHMO’s personal history, political associations, and family and personal connections, from which we might reasonably adduce some idea of “where he’s coming from” —which we need to do by default, since he won’t tell us.

May I note this is already publicly available information. May I also note that the MSM has yet to pick it up. And probably never will.

Plus may I note further that if I knew of the existence of this website, I would not have “invested” so much time and energy in tracking down BHMH’s record on my own. I could just have gone there and got all my questions answered. The good news is, this site only confirms what I have been able to learn through my own independent efforts.

The site, however, does not touch on the influence of the Harlem Renaissance on Obama’s thought and policy. [Maybe this is just my humble contribution to the mix here.] Perhaps that’s because the HR does not reach to Obama directly, but only to his direct mentors — such as, for instance, Frank Marshall Davis and his associates, and the legatees of this cultural inheritance who are still among us today (e.g., Harry Belafonte; see more below).

In my view, there is no way that American “racial healing” can occur through the political process. The reason why is that the “racial” problem is ostensibly, fundamentally a cultural problem.

About the Harlem Renaissance, I would like to say the following for the record.

The HR occurred in the late teens of the twentieth century, and persisted until it faded away in the Great Depression of the 1930s. It was primarily a tremendous and often glorious cultural outburst of black Americans some fifty years after the passage of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments of the Federal Constitution.

As you will recall, the 14th made black Americans full citizens of the United States, as well as full citizens of the states in which they reside. The 15th gave black Americans full voting rights. Both amendments stipulated in formal language that “The Congress shall have power to enforce th[ese] article[s] by appropriate legislation.”

But by the time of the Harlem Renaissance, Congress had not done a single “enforcement” thing; and Jim Crow, “separate but ‘equal’” was the de facto law of the land.

No wonder enormously gifted folks like Paul Robeson who, back in the ’20s, in high dudgeon over the certifiable maltreatment of blacks in or society, sought to destroy a system that would not live up to its own Constitutional principles. I don’t have to agree with Robeson’s personal judgment on this issue to understand his frustration as a human being of extraordinary genius and accomplishment over such a state of affairs.

Dated from the HR, it took another 50 years before Congress got around to “legislating” on such questions, thanks to the ministrations of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and President Lyndon Baines Johnson….

Aside from the splendid artistic and cultural accomplishments of the HR, its dark side was its political legacy: Black separatism and radical (Marxian] politics. But back then, that was the cultural response to Jim Crow deemed perfectly “legitimate” at the highest echelons of black creative genius and accomplishment.

To try to illustrate these points, let me draw an example from American culture. What I have in mind is the great American “translation” of a great European opera, Georges Bizet’s Carmen, played in America under the name Carmen Jones, with an original libretto written by the American Jew, Oscar Hammerstein II. Eventually Carmen Jones was made into a film produced by another great American Jew, Otto Preminger, starring Harry Belafonte and the incandescent Dorothy Dandridge (with Pearl Bailey and Diahann Carroll). I believe the extraordinarily brilliant Dandridge is the “black Marilyn Monroe” if ever there was one. Plus she sings like an angel…. Even from the “European” classical operatic canon, á la Bizet…. And so does Harry B….

I heard Carmen Jones in my home before the age of ten; because my mother — a first-generation 100% Polish American and lifelong opera fan — acquired the 45-rpm records of this opera and often played it for us. Later it was made into a movie, and recently I was able to purchase it at Amazon.com in DVD format.

Now Belafonte is at least an “unconscious competent” legatee of the Harlem Renaissance in both its black separatist and radical politics aspects. (He’s “best buds” with Fidel among other pernicious thugs these days.)

But for me, the main point is he could sing Bizet gloriously. He was a young man then, and in his best voice ever. To hear him sing “You Talk Just like My Maw” and “Dis Flower” from Carmen Jones just brings me to tears — of joy, of the sheer affirmation of human life in all its unfoldings….

If ever I were to run into Harry Belafonte these days, there’s only one question I’d like to ask to him: “What do you make of your participation in Carmen Jones? Is there anything you would regret about your association with that [amazing] project?”

I don’t know what he would answer. Perhaps his more recently acquired “politics” might lead him to repudiate his association with that project altogether.

Similarly, we might point out that Paul Robeson benefited from Jewish sponsors. He was the first black American to my knowledge to appear in a starring role on Broadway, thanks to the great Gershwin brothers, George (composer) and Ira (librettist). The play (a “light opera”) was Porgy and Bess. It made Robeson famous….

My point here is to draw attention to the fact that American Jews have been in the forefront of enabling black artistic genius to connect with the broad American audience. American Jews have also bled and died in the struggle for black civil rights. What I find perplexing, given this historical background, is the expressions of rank anti-Semitism that we find promulgated from Obama’s church, and Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam — an Obama supporter, whose support Obama conveniently denies in his campaign for Democrat nominee for President of the United States….

Anyhoot, to conclude, if one wants racial healing in the U.S., cultural healing, a President Obama would seem to be the least qualified, least dependable person to deliver it. For not only is he personally deeply divided on his own "identity" issues, but he thinks this is somehow a “political problem,” not a personal or cultural one.

I think it’s eminently possible that such questions can be addressed at the cultural level. But never from the political level. — which is the level at which Obama declares himself to be the best fit among all Americans alive today to address.

Yup. Sure.

On the other hand, if Obama is finally seated as President of the United States, he would be the first president in American history to hold dual citizenship: U.S. and Kenyan.

To my mind, that fact alone is wholly sufficient to disqualify him from assuming that august office in the first place. There should be no possibility of “divided loyalties” in the President of the United States.

Questions? Comments? Kids. We’ve got a lot to do in the next six months to get out the truth on Obama and what’s at stake for the American people, should he be elected president.

I take Jeff Head’s cogent, and comprehensive statement regarding this issue very much to heart:

Barack Obama was born of Communist activists, mentored by Communist writer and activist, spent his college days hanging around radical activists (this from Obama’s own book), worked as a radical community organizer learning the radical tactics of Alinsky, kept contact with radicals through the years, and today lends his political skill to the international goals of radical activists, and has radicals working on for his campaign.

We can take that statement to the bank. For each and every one of its points can be corroborated on the basis of direct and impartial evidence.

So, what do we do next? John McCain is not going to go with these theses in his candidacy. He has made it perfectly clear that he wants to take “the high road,” so as not to engage in “negative campaigning.”

Whatta jerk. Where did he ever get the idea that to speak the truth could in any way be “negative?”

I hope he’s got some 527 organizations out there to say what needs to be said, since he won’t do it.

And here's the ultimate horror attending a BHMO presidency: The trashing of the Constituion by emphasizing judicial over legislative power as the best means to address social problems, from the Obama File site:

In a page-one footnote of what may be the zaniest-titled article ever published by the Harvard Law Review: "The Curvature of Constitutional Space: What Lawyers Can Learn From Modern Physics," authored by noted legal scholar Laurence Tribe.

The 39-page densely argued treatise argues that constitutional jurisprudence should be updated in a similar way that Einstein's theory of relativity replaced Newtonian mechanics, a view that would release judges from the original intent of the Founders of America.

Published in 1989, with help of the much younger and politically greener Mr. Obama, the long-ago article could indicate his views on the Constitution, which, if he is elected, could come into play in such matters as his choice of nominees to the Supreme Court....

If Mr. Obama captures the White House, he might not curve space but may settle for setting aside a high-altitude seat on the Supreme Court for his former teacher, Mr. Tribe, who is the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard.

When the nomination of John Roberts as chief justice of the Supreme Court came up in the Senate in 2005, Obama argued that the role of a justice is to favor the "weak" over the "strong."

When the nomination of Sam Alito as an associate justice came up in January 2006, he made the same argument.

Obama does not want a Supreme Court that preserves the rule of law, he wants a Supreme Court that wages class war under color of law.

So, in Obama's vision, who are the "weak" and who are the "strong"? Who deserves to win the "hearts" of Supreme Court justices? Who does not?

In contrast to his soaring campaign rhetoric about bringing America together, Obama's Senate speeches against Justices Roberts and Alito revealed a polarizing vision of America. Minorities, women, employees and criminal defendants were among the weak; majorities, men, employers and prosecutors among the strong....

"It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied, they were relieved -- such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn’t seem angry all the time."

That is a quote from Obama’s book, Dreams From My Father. He has learned to play the game well. Regardless of the company he keeps, his smiling well mannered persona has indeed been an effective shield into the psyche of Barack Obama.

Arrrrrgghhh! IMHO Lawrence Tribe is a total jerk if he thinks that relativity theory has somehow displaced Newtonian physics/mechanics. Einstein would likely take issue with this proposition; Einstein did not "kill" Newtonian physics/mechanics, he merely extended it into another domain.

A guy who is so cavalier and superficial regarding the understandings of modern physics probably is unfit to serve as a justice on the Supreme Court. Better that a supreme court justice does not use this type of evidence in his findings. Even if he understood the issues involved, I am hard pressed to understand how they are related to the dispensation of equal justice while preserving the Constitution that defines what "equal justice under law" is.

Thank you so very much, DMZFrank, for your outstanding essay/post!

Assumimg he can't be stopped. And I don't buy that proposition. At all.

He is a stealth candidate, running a stealth campaign, just trying to fly under the radar unto the election....

But we will not let him do that. And to the extent we succeed in denying him this purpose, he will not be "the most successful 'mole' in modern history."

Time to rally people.

It's so good to hear from you, Travis McGee!

Yes, I think you're right about that Travis. So what to do?

I'm thinking of writing to my local talk radio guys Michael Graham and Jay Severin, with a little "fact sheet" on Obama, plus the link to "The Obama File." I'm even thinking of sending it along to the HRC Campaign. If I do, I'll post the "fact sheet" here, and maybe others can do likewise with their local media venues, especially the talk radio jocks. Maybe we can stir the pot a little bit here.

Well Travis, I did the dastardly deed -- I sent the message below to the Clinton campaign today, copy to Michael Graham at Boston talk radio WTKK 96.9 FM:

Dear Senator Clinton,

I recently learned some very distressing news about Senator Obama. Did you know that if elected president of the United States, he would be the first president in American history to hold dual citizenship — U.S. and Kenyan? Some people would say, “big deal; it’s an accident of his birth to an American mother and a Kenyan father, and both the U.S. and Kenya recognize dual citizenship, so what’s the problem?”

The problem is evidently BHO has been inserting himself into Kenyan politics in recent times, criticizing the government for corruption among other things. As you already know, Kenya held a presidential election last December, and BHO’s first cousin, Raila Odinga, who was a candidate, lost. He claims the election was “stolen” from him. Subsequently he has been fomenting an insurrection Somali-style against the Kenyan government. If successful, he promises to institute Sharia law in Kenya, despite the fact that only 12 percent of the Kenyan population is Muslim. Meanwhile, his tribe, the Luo (Islamists) are murdering members of a rival tribe, the Kiyuku (who are Christian). Most spectacularly, Odinga supporters recently burned down a Christian church filled with parishioners, including a large number of women and children. Thousands of people have lost their lives so far.

And BHO has been providing aid and comfort, and especially financial support to his cousin.

To me, BHO is a stealth candidate, conducting a stealth campaign just trying to fly under the radar. We know nothing about what this man thinks or believes. The mainstream media are simply not delving into his background and biography; but they sure are trying to “stack the deck” in favor of his nomination. (It’s absurd to me that they argue you should get out of the race because you have a “numbers problem.” Well, BHO has the same exact “numbers problem” that you do.)

I say, HANG IN THERE, do not give up the fight. Take it all the way to the convention if you have to. BHO absolutely scares me to death.

I found this website the other day that details the sources of my concern: The Obama File. I know you’re up to your eyeballs in alligators lately; but maybe you could have a staffer take a look at these materials. Maybe there’s valuable information here that your campaign can use to prevail against BHO and secure your nomination as the Democratic candidate for president.

Good luck, Senator, and Godspeed!

Etc.

Just stirring the pot here. Who knows what will happen. I hope I won't catch H*LL from fellow FReepers over this. The fact is, BHO really and truly does scare me to dealth. And I figure "better the devil one knows than the devil one doesn't."

There's a reason Obama wound up in Wright's 'church' and stayed for 20 years.

The Real Story Behind Rev. Wright's Controversial Black Liberation Theology Doctrine
Monday , May 5, 2008
FoxNews/Hannity's America
[special Friday night edition--original airdate May 2, 2008]

(some key excerpts)

REV. BOB SCHENCK, NATIONAL CLERGY COUNCIL: "it's based in Marxism. At the core of his [Wright's] theology is really an anti-Christian understanding of God, and as part of a long history of individuals who actually advocate using violence in overthrowing those they perceive to be oppressing them, even acts of murder have been defended by followers of liberation theology. That's very, very dangerous."

SCHENCK: "I was actually the only person escorted to Dr. Wright. He asked to see me, and I simply welcomed him to Washington, and then I said Dr. Wright, I want to bring you a warning: your embrace of Marxist liberation theology. It is contrary to the Gospel, and you need, sir, to abandon it. And at that he dropped the handshake and made it clear that he was not in the mood to dialogue on that point."

JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO NETWORK: "Liberation theology in Nicaragua in the mid-1980's was a pro-Sandinista, pro-Marxist, anti-U.S., anti-Catholic Church movement. That's it. No ifs, ands, or buts. His church apparently supported, in the mid-'80s in Nicaragua, groups that supported the Sandinista dictatorships and that were opposed to the Contras whose reason for being was calling for elections. That's all I know. I was there.

I saw the churches in Nicaragua that he spoke of, and the churches were churches that talked about the need for violent revolution and I remember clearly one of the major churches in Managua where the Jesus Christ on the altar was not Jesus Christ, he was a Sandinista soldier, and the priests talked about the corruption of the West, talked about the need for revolution everywhere, and talked about 'the evil empire' which was the United States of America."

Obama's Church: Gospel of Hate
Kathy Shaidle, FrontPageMag.com
Monday, April 07, 2008

In March of 2007, FOX News host Sean Hannity had engaged Obama’s pastor in a heated interview about his Church’s teachings. For many viewers, the ensuing shouting match was their first exposure to "Black Liberation Theology"...

Like the pro-communist Liberation Theology that swept Central America in the 1980s and was repeatedly condemned by Pope John Paul II, Black Liberation Theology combines warmed-over 1960s vintage Marxism with carefully distorted biblical passages. However, in contrast to traditional Marxism, it emphasizes race rather than class. The Christian notion of "salvation" in the afterlife is superseded by "liberation" on earth, courtesy of the establishment of a socialist utopia.

Asked during the question-and-answer period following his National Press Club speech on Monday [April 28, 2008] why he charged the U.S. Government with manufacturing the AIDS virus to kill black people, Barack Obama’s “former” pastor Jeremiah Wright cited a 1996 book by Leonard Horowitz, Emerging Viruses: AIDS and Ebola. Russia, China flex muscles in joint war games
Reuters: Aug 17, 2007

CHEBARKUL, Russia (Reuters) - Russia and China staged their biggest joint exercises on Friday but denied this show of military prowess could lead to the formation of a counterweight to NATO.

"Today's exercises are another step towards strengthening the relations between our countries, a step towards strengthening international peace and security, and first and foremost, the security of our peoples," Putin said.

Fighter jets swooped overhead, commandos jumped from helicopters on to rooftops and the boom of artillery shells shook the firing range in Russia's Ural mountains as two of the largest armies in the world were put through their paces.

The exercises take place against a backdrop of mounting rivalry between the West, and Russia and China for influence over Central Asia, a strategic region that has huge oil, gas and mineral resources.

Russia's growing assertiveness is also causing jitters in the West. Putin announced at the firing range that Russia was resuming Soviet-era sorties by its strategic bomber aircraft near NATO airspace.

New Pentagon Report: China's Growing Military Space Power
By Leonard David
Special Correspondent, SPACE.com
March 6, 2008

GOLDEN, Colorado — A just-released Pentagon report spotlights a growing U.S. military concern that China is developing a multi- dimensional program to limit or prevent the use of space-based assets by its potential adversaries during times of crisis or conflict.

Furthermore, last year's successful test by China of a direct-ascent, anti-satellite (ASAT) weapon to destroy its own defunct weather satellite, the report adds, underscores that country's expansion from the land, air, and sea dimensions of the traditional battlefield into the space and cyber-space domains.

Although China's commercial space program has utility for non- military research, that capability demonstrates space launch and control know-how that have direct military application. Even the Chang'e 1 — the Chinese lunar probe now circling the Moon — is flagged in the report as showcasing China's ability "to conduct complicated space maneuvers — a capability which has broad implications for military counterspace operations."

Obama Pledges Cuts in Missile Defense, Space, and Nuclear Weapons Programs

February 29, 2008 :: News
MissileThreat.com

A video has surfaced of Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama talking on his plans for strategic issues such as nuclear weapons and missile defense.

The full text from the video, as released, reads as follows:

Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.

First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.[i.e. not win it]

Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.

I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.

I will not weaponize space.

I will slow our development of future combat systems.

And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.

Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.

You know where I stand. I've fought for open, ethical and accountable government my entire public life. I don't switch positions or make promises that can't be kept. I don't posture on defense policy and I don't take money from federal lobbyists for powerful defense contractors. As president, my sole priority for defense spending will be protecting the American people. Thanks so much.

(Mr. Maginnis is a retired Army lieutenant colonel, a national security and foreign affairs analyst for radio and television and a senior strategist with the U.S. Army)

YouTube has an undated 52-second clip of Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barrack Obama outlining his plans for America’s national defense. Obama’s presentation demonstrates either total naivete about important national security programs or he is just pandering for votes among the extreme left.

Note: Although I sent Human Events the ORIGINAL youtube video several weeks ago (original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o84PE871BE ) and asked that they replace the copy they refer to (copy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl32Y7wDVDs ), they still have not yet done so. The original comes directly from the Obama camp itself and so is a lot more credible. In any case, Col Maginnis does an excellent in-depth must read analysis of Obama's proposed defense policies (see: http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?print=yes&id=25942).

From "45 Communist Goals":
Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35
January 10, 1963:

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.
