[snip] With the world’s largest reserves of coal, after creating the nuclear power industry ex nihilo, and with billions of oil still under our soil and waters, it makes no sense to produce less energy while blaming and taxing those who produce what we have, rather than drilling, digging, and saving, as we find ways to transition to the alternate energies. The problem is not just oil, but importing oil at $120 a barrel that is bankrupting us as much as it is enriching the wrong people. [end]

Gas going even higher!
Posted By: Bill Steffen on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 11:14 am

[snip] By the way, NBC did a little cheap shot last night on the Nightly News. They put up a graphic that showed the price of a barrel of oil when Pres. Bush took office and what it is now. They wanted to lead you to believe that the worldwide price of oil today is the fault of Bush. Oil is a worldwide commodity... This is not going to change until there is more supply (and who is stopping that from happening?) or less demand (in the world, not just the U.S.). Since we put all kinds of roadblocks into developing new energy (no more drilling for oil...no coal, no hydro, no nuclear...heck, they don’t even like windmills because birds can run into them), this is not going to change by having a new face in the White House. [end]

The issue is should there be drilling off the coast of California, and Califomians have spoken and they don't want it. So the answer is no.

So STFU about the price of gas.

The last time I checked, Republicans as well as Democrats (e.g, Governors Jeb Bush & Charlie Crist) were opposed to drilling 100 miles off Florida’s coast.

“FEINSTEIN: No, not necessarily at all. The fact of the matter is California is at refining capacity. They couldn't refine more if we had it.”

Ok, if that is the case (Taken at face value) has this ignoramus controlled by environmentalist ever heard of boats. You know the ones that ship goods overseas. More supply in the world's market will shut up all the speculators and lesson the impact of OPEC.

We have a bunch of control freaks in DC/Local/State government and the electorate keeps voting them in. Any belly aching about gas prices is pure hypocrisy from anyone who votes these “mini” tyrants in.
