No. Environmentalism contributes to our energy shortage, but it isn’t the whole problem by any means.

Peak oil, rising demand from China and India, a weak dollar policy, these are independent of environmental meddling.

A lack of refining capacity, a plethora of gasoline blends, a failure to develop domestic oil reserves, these are aggravations caused by politicians kowtowing to environmentalist demands. Not to mention the end of American nuclear power construction.

People are going to have their standard of living heading towards 3rd world levels when we can’t supply the electricity we take for granted. Maybe then we’ll put a few Earth First heads on stakes as sign that we’ve had enough. I’m about ready to declare a fatwa.

“The price of oil is high because this is an election year and the liberals of the planet want Republicans out of office. Bush and Cheney are both associated with oil. Make oil look greedy and you get to elect a liberal (Marxist) and get one more step closer to a Marxist-Socialist society.”

Very possible. Then when the Marxists take power, it’s suddenly ok to drill there, and prices collapse and they look good.

Yes, but we can produce liquid fuels for transportation from coal and gas (I guess I’m not sure how economical it is).

I appreciate what Rush stated, but, natural gas is not a by-product of crude oil.

In some areas, no, because natural gas is the primary target of exploration efforts.

(It depends on the thermal maturity of the source rocks).

In others, the gas is in solution in the crude oil in the reservoir and is, as Rush stated, a byproduct of crude oil production. It depends on where you are.

Yeah, ok, I can have a price where I won’t buy gas BUT what about heating oil? Gets cold in Maine in the winter and you can only winterize your home so much and keep the thermostat so low.

When was Maine first colonized, 1880 or so? It was impossible to survive there in winter before the Oil Era...right?

We got to the moon in 10 years from a standing start, didn't we? If we were to give that big old hateful company a contract to drill any oil prospect anyplace. We would be awash in oil in a few years. The problem is getting the environmental wacko's in a bag and drowning them. The ball is in the Donk controlled congress’ court.

Joe, tell me what is lead tong, backup tong, toolpusher, gauger, greenie, roustabout, et al.

Natural gas is the product of drilling, not the refining of crude.

“When was Maine first colonized, 1880 or so? “

Maine was part of Massachusetts until the 1820s. It was settled in the 1600s, and Indians lived there before that.

I heard this today, and it was awesome. When he gets on a roll like this, he’s incredible. I loved hearing it, and all the details he brought into the speech. It sure makes good material for reference.

Not sure, but lets all go back and live like they did in the1700’s. That’s real progress for this once great Nation isn’t it?
