Obama: "I Will Raise Taxes"

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama flatly promised to raise taxes in a television interview Thursday afternoon.

“I will raise CEO taxes,” Obama told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on “The Situation Room.”

“If you’re a CEO in this country you’ll probably pay more taxes,” Obama said. Obama speculated his CEO tax rates “won’t be prohibitively high, you’ll pay roughly what you did in the 90’s when they were doing fine.”

Obama also said he would eliminate the Bush tax cuts and install what he called a “middle class tax cut.”

Blitzer asked Obama to define “middle class.”

Obama replied, “You know, I think the definitions are always a little bit rough” and said “if you’re making $100,000 a year or less, then you’re pretty solidly middle class…On the other hand, if you’re making more than $100,000 and certainly if you’re making more than $200,000 or $250,000, you’re doing pretty well.”

The CNN interview was the first one Obama has held since Tuesday’s primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. In it, the Illinois senator also discussed his judicial philosophy. Obama, who has delivered constitutional lectures at University of Chicago Law School, said he thought Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was “a very sensible judge.” He also hinted he would place special emphasis on civil rights protections when appointing Supreme Court judges if elected President.

“We’ve got to make sure civil liberties are protected,” Obama said. “Because oftentimes there are pressures placed on politicians to want to set civil liberties aside, especially at a time when we’ve had terrorist attacks. Making sure we maintain our separation of powers so that we don’t have a president who is takes over more and more power, I think those are all criteria by which I’d judge whether or not this is a good appointee.”

When they get into the White House Michelle will quit and they will live entirely off the taxpayer. Maybe Barry Hussein will spend his free time writing another bestseller, “The Tenacity of Hype”.

I know a bunch of cops and firefighters in Vallejo whose money-problems have just escalated. ;-)

I was really getting use to keeping more of MY money.

Fortunately, IMO, B. Hussein is going to get slaughtered in the general. Let's hope the Muslim militant keeps talking.

“The 60% of the electorate who are “independents”, which really means they are clueless and too busy to embrace conservatism and the angry Hillary voters will coalesce around McCain.”

I think that is a highly unfair statement...last I check “Conservative” is not a party choice.

Most Americans want more taxes on “the rich”. They believe “the rich” should pay their “fair share”. See, they are Marxists and don’t even know it.

True. Conservative and Republican are certainly not mutually inclusive. Other than that, I’m not sure what you mean.

Obama also said he would eliminate the Bush tax cuts and install what he called a “middle class tax cut.”

Blitzer asked Obama to define “middle class.”

Obama replied, “You know, I think the definitions are always a little bit rough” and said “if you’re making $100,000 a year or less, then you’re pretty solidly middle class...

Repealing the Bush tax cuts would increase taxes for those under $100,000 annual income, including folks all the way at the bottom in the 10 percent bracket. Under such a repeal, the lowest-income taxpayers currently in the 10 percent tax bracket would pay 15 percent, a roughly 50 percent increase in their current income tax burden. And we're not even talking about all the crap from the States or the problems with Social Security and Medicare.

Obama is a liar, plain and simple. Either that or he's just an idiot who doesn't prepare his own tax returns, balance his checkbook, or actually read legislation he votes on. Then again, given his latest remark about 57 states, I tend to believe he may be the latter.

Therein lies the problem. The reality is that it is your money, however, the folks in charge believe that it is actually their money, and unfortunately, they have the force to take it from you at will.

Hell, he shouldnt be elected dog catcher.
What worries me is that he speaks to the crowd, saying what they want to hear.
If you are a white person who votes for this scumbag, you must be ashamed of your race for whatever reason the media told you.
There are enough idiots to get this goofball elected. And the GOP trots out some over the hill loser who is more comfortable talking to the libs than the base of his own party.

I dont think so ,just look at it this way ,Mccain is going to tell everyone get your own Health care by choosing your own insurance company ,Obama is going to Give you free healthcare ,free college education ,jobs ,a House and lots of other goodies . We are supposed to support McCain for the supreme court Justices and the Iraq War ,Who do you think the people in this country today are going to vote for? The Plain fact is there are a lot more people paying NO TAXES in this country than are , so they dont care if Obama raises taxes on people over 50 grand or 100 grand,it just means more goodies for them . We are at the point of no return

The last candidate dumb enough to say “I’ll will raise your taxes” was Walter Mondull in 1984. Enough said.
