ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today released a new Spanish-language ad, entitled "McCain, Plan Economico," highlighting ways in which his economic plan will help small businesses flourish during these uncertain economic times. The ad will air on the internet.
"John McCain recognizes the role that Latino small businesses and entrepreneurs play in our country's economic success in an ever-changing global marketplace," said former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin.
The ad follows the Cinco de Mayo announcement of John McCain's participation in the La Raza Annual Convention in San Diego on July 14, 2008 and the release of John McCain's Spanish "Estamos Unidos" website, www.johnmccain/espanol.

In the 2004 election President Bush received some 31 percent of the Latino vote. But for that, John Kerry would be President today.
Half the teenage population of L. A. is Latino.
And the learned minds on this site, and thread, think it “stupido” (the correct Spanish is “estupido”) to appeal to Latinos through Spanish Language ads??
I guess you don't live and work with as many Latinos out in Ohio as we do in the Southwest. The point has been made and made again. The Latinos who vote and who might consider voting for a Republican ALREADY SPEAK ENGLISH. They watch English language TV, they have jobs where they and everyone else speak English. The only time they watch Spanish language channels is when grandma has something on the TV.
The people who can't speak English and who NEED political ads in Spanish have only been in the US less than five years. For the most part they aren't citizens yet and they can't vote.
These ads are hollow, shallow, transparent, pandering. Comprendo?

McCain is wrong on a few ‘hot-button’ issues (we all know what they are already) but he is very good on spending and his health care and tax plans are very much in line with free market Phil Gramm / Tom Coburn conservative policies.
He is in no way a liberal comparable to the liberal Democrats like Obama and you know it.
Excuse me, but none of this “McCain is not as conservative as you think” stuff will be the line of attack from the media. They already are laying down the “MCCain is 3rd Bush term”. SoConPubbie is doing the McCain bashing that Howard Dean and obama’s minions havent gotten too.

It’s not like we can AFFORD complacency this cycle.
So it begs the question of why the superfluous mccain-bashing. These points were hashed out in the nomination. None of the points raised change the fact that:
1. McCain is more conservative than Barack Obama - by far.
2. McCain will be a better President than Obama - by far.
Those not happy with McCain have to consider
Easy choice for me, I’ve had a lot worse Hobson’s choices in elections and even have one tomorrow - liberal vs crazy-moonbat-liberal for our city council. And I mean real liberal, not this faked-up “McCain is a liberal” when his lifetime ACU is over 80%, and he’s on record to do the right thing on taxes, judges, Iraq and spending/earmarks.
Those 4 issues alone make him worth supporting over the worthless leftist zero Obama.
What purpose is served in attacking McCain, other than to distract? What is the goal? To see him lose to Obama? Why is that to be hoped for? I’m not a particular McCain fan, but I will call it like I see it when the fragging circular-firing-squad shows up to shoot our own side. There is no way shape or form that Obama winning does anything but devastate the conservative cause.
BHO will be the new JFK. He will use the levers of power to exclude conservative ideas from the public conversation. He is more leftwing than Ted Kennedy and the media is more in love with him than even they were with Clinton. His election will do to conservatives what that cyclone did to Burma.

Actually it was 40%. If Bush only won 30% he would have lost.
Reagan pioneered spanish-speaking TV ads in 1980.
EVERY campaign has used spanish language TV ads since. Both Bush’s, Dole, Clinton, etc. In 1992 it was “Viva Bush!”.
There are millions of American citizens who are immigrants and who speak regularly in their home countries tongue. This is not new. Using Spanish in ads is not new.
The Disgruntleds have a bone to pick with John Amnesty McCain, and any excuse will do to pick their fights, even if it makes no sense whatsoever. McCain could take his lunch at a Taco Bell and they would be up in arms over it.
Admittedly they haven’t given me much choice. ...But the lesser of three evils is still evil. ...So, I will vote for whatever conservative rises aside from the ashes of what used to be a conservative party (the republicans), 3rd Party, or not vote for President at all and focus on the congressional and senate races. ...I just feel that no matter how much lipstick we put on it, a pig is still a pig.
