Hillary, Barack, want my vote? Just $20 million, please

LOS ANGELES (AP) - What will it take for a Democratic presidential candidate to win the support of California superdelegate Steven Ybarra?

Say, $20 million.

The Democratic National Committee member doesn't parse his words when it comes to what he wants from Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton - an ironclad promise to spend that heady amount to register Mexican-American voters and get them to the polls in November.

In a telephone interview Wednesday, he said he plans to remain undecided in the tight contest until "someone shows me the money."

snip When will he settle on a candidate? "Nobody showed me any money yet," he said. He's not kidding. To Ybarra, a Sacramento lawyer, the stakes are no less than winning the presidency in November. He predicted that as many as 1.3 million Mexican-Americans could be added to voter rolls in New Mexico, Colorado, Florida and other swing states, a potentially decisive edge for the eventual Democratic nominee. With that investment of funds, Mexican-Americans would realize Democratic leaders "care about us," Ybarra said, referring to Mexican-Americans. Is $20 million a lot to ask? In 2004, "they spent a billion to lose," he said.

Well, it’s a good thing we’ll no longer have “politics as usual” under Obama, huh....?

All I can say is thank the Lord our state passed the voter ID law last month.

I wish every state would do it, especially California, but that’s a pipe dream with guys like this around.

My, my, my... Sounds just like African tribalism. How balkanized are we? How third-world? Come to think of it, this whole dimowit primary has struck me as very tribalistic. And here’s hilary! today going on about her appeal to white people. I thought we were beyond that.

Maybe it was wishful thinking.

This is just the beginning, thanks to our ruling class.

The nice thing about California, is that we have the initiative and referendum process. If the legislature DOESN’T pass such a law, we’ll be happy to put it on the ballot come November. May not help in this election but we can stop the fraud in the next one. And since the Supremes have already said such a law is valid, and since Cali GIVES you an ID if you can’t afford one, no problem. DMV’s in every City (and if you use food stamps, you have to present picture ID anyway, so the whole “hurts the poor!” is crap.

Apparently, “we,” as in white people seeking extinction would be correct.

Or did you have a different “we” in mind?

This is exactly why McCain is speaking to groups like LaRaza....this race won’t be decided by those “entrenched” on either side...they balance one another out...it’s the swing voters that make the difference.

Welcome to the left-wing auction house. It’s nice to see the Democrats return to their roots of bribes for votes.

Wow! Did I ever convey a wrong impression! By "we", I meant America! Sorry.

At least my observation applies mainly to the left. I think the right wing in this country still thinks about the brotherhood of man; and that's good. At least it's a noble ideal.

Isn’t this some kind of extortion, blackmail, or law about selling votes.

It's not just Africa but all around the world, including Europe. Tribal politics in Yugoslavia took one of the most advanced Soviet Bloc countries, able to manufacture not only an export-quality automobile (the Yugo -- not great but they sold in the US) and fighter jets and ripped it up and turned it into a dysfunctional mess. People need to support good people and reject bad people regardless of what tribe they belong to, which means being willing to support good people outside of your own tribe and reject the bad people in your own tribe. Closing ranks and protecting the bad people in your group ruins everything from countries all the way down to trade unions and police departments.

By “we”, I meant America...

I think that I understand you very well. :)

My point being that what “we” thought was “America” is not America anymore.
Noble ideals, yes, but not shared ideals between different cultures at all.
Never were, never will be. - IMO, of course.

That why the "melting pot" worked and multi culturalism does not

While I can admire such concepts - from a distance - again IMO, such things are impossible with different cultures and while different societies all have equal status.

Ah, Multi culturalism.

To me it simply means the death and the destruction of the ideals and stunning achievements of Western Civilization and its culture.

Multi-culturalism is just another part of the post modern meta-narrative which redefines western culture as not being superior in anyway to other cultures, and therefore not worth perpetuating because by propping up western culture we are oppressing other cultures. So, instead of teaching appreciation of classics (literature, art and music), the colleges teach courses in pop culture, eastern religions, and minority literature.

The real story here, that no one is talking about, is how a larcenous idiot like this one becomes a "superdelegate".

On the other hand, unmaking the whole mob of treasonous (me, me, me!) idiots is a good thing, I suppose.
