Hopefully someday we will have cheap energy from clean, safe fusion powered power plants. With the advances in battery technology, super capacitors, and other technology, the fast, high mile, electric car may be in our future.
But the point the author is making is that there is no energy shortage and even if nothing changed there would not be for over 100 years.
Practical electrical cars are just like fusion power, just around the corner........and have been for 40 years.....
