Gary Mayor Predicts Possible Indiana Shocker
Washington Post ^ | 5-6-08 | Alec MacGillis

Posted on 05/06/2008 8:08:18 PM PDT by rdl6989

As the fate of a nailbiter Indiana primary -- and possibly the course of the Democratic race -- hung on his city, Gary Mayor Rudy Clay said just now that it might take a while yet to finish counting the vote in Lake County, which includes Gary, and said that his city had turned out so overwhelmingly for Barack Obama that it might just be enough to close the gap with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

"Let me tell you, when all the votes are counted, when Gary comes in, I think you're looking at something for the word to see," Clay, an Obama supporter, said in a telephone interview from Obama's Gary headquarters. "I don't know what the numbers are yet, but Gary has absolutely produced in large numbers for Obama here."

Clay said the results were late coming in from Lake County because of the large numbers of absentee ballots that had to be counted -- about 11,000. Under local practice, all of the cartridges from voting machines in Gary and nearby East Chicago are first collected at the local airport before being driven to the county headquarters to be tallied with the results from the rest of the county, he said. He said there were major technical problems holding up the count.

"It takes a little time. We want to be sure that every vote is counted fair and right," he said. "I just talked to the director out there and they are working like junkyard dogs to get that done as soon as possible. They are taking some time but I told them to do it right. That's what taking the time."

Given the numbers, OPeration Chaos PUT HER OVER THE TOP.

It was estimated earlier that as much as 7% of her voters were Op Chaos operatives...

I’m trying to tell everyone that her speech tonite was a concession speech. She talked of her own family’s support in the past tense. She has a plan.

Fox News projecting Hillary the winner in Indiana, claiming that 100% of the vote is in. 51%-49%, just as zelig predicted many hours ago... what a squeaker.

Hmmm... maybe Operation Chaos had something to do with her win in Indiana. Rush will be interesting tomorrow... Sean speaking now, claiming that Operation Chaos put her over the top.

I've got to call it a night. Sleep well... the Hildabeast is almost out of it! :o)

It will take the uncommitted super delegates to declare for Obama. Currently, Hillary leads in committed super delegates, 266-252. Based on current projections, Obama needs just about 90 super delegates out of the current uncommitted 277 super delegates to get to 2025. If about a 100 uncommitted super delegates declare for Obama, the game is over now.

POTUS -—> SCOTUS -——> International Law over U.S. Sovereignty.

POTUS is as much about the Courts as anything else and includes the whole abortion matter as well.

I agree with you. I remember Howard Dean’s rant after he lost Iowa that it was on to this state and that state. The math is clear. She can’t win and she knows it. Tonight was the end. The only question is when will she drop out. It will surely be before the convention, which the Dems will turn into a lovefest.

Yeah. like it takes six hours to tally machine totals in a primary race in a Rust Belt city.

Puh-leeze. He needs to make the vote total fit how many are needed. They are masters at doing this, because this is not a job for rank amateurs.

Not if and when Larry Sinclair’s story gets fully examined. Or some other similar story.

Rather than lose with hilary or obama, only for them to run again in 2012, the RATS may prefer to lose with a 3rd. presently unknown candidate who they can forget about in 2012.

It's funny but I think you're right. Where I voted (strong repub precinct) the were laughing about it. When I asked for a Dem ballot, the poll worker laughed and said "here's another one". I got not hassles and in fact it was more wink and a nod. Rush delivered Indy to the Beast.

I don’t know the rules of the party, but how do they drop Hillary and Obama and pull another candidate out of their hat?

I saw that.

Did you happen to notice the looks of relief on the faces of the CNN commentators (all libs) once the Lake County vote came in?

They all knew this was a potential major scandal unraveling "live", uncontrollably, in peoples living rooms and there was no way the blame could be placed on Repubs...

If Obama went over the top on those votes, Operation Chaos could have taken a vacation because that would have openly pit the candidates and their supporters against each other and all of them against the DNC.

Well, we still have the open sores of FL and MI...

Something is rotten in Gary.

If you've ever been to Gary then you know you're stating the obvious.

I think they were going to try an obvious fraud with way over 100% of registered voters in many precincts. I think somebody way up in the Democrat party said chill, don’t do it. The impending investigation and observation would make it impossible to repeat in November. But there HAS to be a big investigation and observers at all Gary polling places in Novemeber-a swarm of lawyers descending on Gary and similar towns nationwide like the swarm in Florida in 2000.
