As the fate of a nailbiter Indiana primary -- and possibly the course of the Democratic race -- hung on his city, Gary Mayor Rudy Clay said just now that it might take a while yet to finish counting the vote in Lake County, which includes Gary, and said that his city had turned out so overwhelmingly for Barack Obama that it might just be enough to close the gap with Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"Let me tell you, when all the votes are counted, when Gary comes in, I think you're looking at something for the word to see," Clay, an Obama supporter, said in a telephone interview from Obama's Gary headquarters. "I don't know what the numbers are yet, but Gary has absolutely produced in large numbers for Obama here."
Clay said the results were late coming in from Lake County because of the large numbers of absentee ballots that had to be counted -- about 11,000. Under local practice, all of the cartridges from voting machines in Gary and nearby East Chicago are first collected at the local airport before being driven to the county headquarters to be tallied with the results from the rest of the county, he said. He said there were major technical problems holding up the count.
"It takes a little time. We want to be sure that every vote is counted fair and right," he said. "I just talked to the director out there and they are working like junkyard dogs to get that done as soon as possible. They are taking some time but I told them to do it right. That's what taking the time."

CNN has the mayor of Hammond, Lake Co., Indiana on now saying that he turned in the vote tally earlier tonight and has no idea why county officials are just now reporting it. He has no explanation. Bwahahahah!

Can anyone confirm the report that Shrillary has cancelled her morning talk show appearances?? That would seem to be ominous for her campaign — why would she not go on every possible show if she were continuing the campaign?

Watching CNN who has the Mayor of Hammond (part of Lake County) saying she won his district as well as Evansville and he’s questioning why they haven’t released numbers from Gary sooner than now. Many are suggesting the numbers are being played with but others are saying 11,000 absentees are taking quite awhile to add up.
Well, I don’t know. BO only seems to be able to win very black or lily white states - a “mixed” state - CA, TX, NY, Hispanics and all, she wins. That’s a whole lot of electoral votes to blow off.
CA would go to Juan if BO is his opponent.

In the past, Gary and east chicago machines and ballots are collected sent to respective city halls then to the county for official collection. Other areas of the county are reported directly to the county board of elections. This is a fact.
In 1994, John Larson was ahead of Pete Visclosky for congress race would have been an upset on par with Mike Flanagan beating Rostenkowski. Gary and East Chicago came in very late resulting in a 4500 vote loss for Larson.
Poll books have not been purged for over 8 years. Gray has consistenly lost population but maintains voter strength

Yes- and it was also pointed out that most precincts count their absentees EARLY in the day of voting...so by now they should all be counted.

Funny, isn’t it? The Democrats whine about the 2000 election and yet in full view of their own constituents they are stealing votes and not counting all the votes.
My only question is, if Obama gets the nomination and by some freakish chance 91% of the white population votes for McCain, will the talking heads in the MSM gush and coo over that fact as they do when Obama takes 91% of the Black vote? Ummmm, I’m thinking not.
Gary,IN just wants to see how many votes they need to ‘dig up’(literally) before sending the final count in—0-shouldn’t surprise Clintons as JFK did it years ago to Nixon-—the RATS really know ‘vote fraud’
Not too weird if you count them and separate them into two piles. And wait to see what number is needed.
