Los Angeles Police Hire Dietitian to Combat Pudgy Cops

LOS ANGELES — Rana Parker tells pudgy police they have the right to remain chubby, but it can and will be used against them on the streets of Los Angeles.

The dietitian lays down the law for recruits, veterans and top brass, letting them know that eating right can help them do a better job and could even save their lives.

When I was an LEO a bunch of us younger troops tried to install a fitness/weight program and we said we could except all the old fat guys would be grandfathered. We said no thanks and just kept on working out on our own.

We even offered an idea of not making fat-boy uniforms but that got shot down too. They ran our butts off in our academy and then had no follow up routine to maintain so 1/3 of guys ballooned and looked like crap in their uniforms. Psychologists have theories that hardened criminals are less likely to resist or assault in shape officers but the higher ups were afraid of the potential lawsuits for discrimination.

Well our police forces all over America are becoming more militarized. Install height and weight standards similar to the military. Problem solved. Want to be a cop, hit the gym butterball!

As a compulsive overeater I can say for certain that none of the seriously overweight cops will pay attention to the dietian in the long run.

A lack of dietary information is not at the center of the problem.
