I’m still hoping for the Battle of Denver to be fought on live television.

Oh, me too. It'll be a blast if it happens. That's why I can forgive my brother crossing over to vote for Hillary here in NC even though we have some important state primaries.
Obviously, the Democrats don't want that. Howard Dean and Jimmy Carter are both on record saying they expect this to be decided by 1 June. The problem, of course, is that, like all good liberals, they want to have their cake and eat it, too. They want to end the contest early, but they also want to end it with the "right" result, meaning with the best candidate in the best position to beat McCain. That those two interests could be mutually exclusive is not something they'll be ready to accept until it's staring them in the face.
The only thing keeping Hillary alive is the conviction of many Democrats that she's the only one who can beat McCain. She'll lose that if she can't stay competitive against Obama. However, if she can stay alive and make a strong case that she's the only Democrat who can win in November, then watch the fireworks start in June, when Obama supporters start to pressure her to drop out. While Carter will endorse Obama, and Dean will promote him behind the scenes, Hillary will have enough die-hard support to resist them all the way to Denver. She also has enough support on the rules committee to make a fight out of whether to count the Florida and Michigan votes. It ought to be fun!
