The mystery woman who last week signed Staten Island Rep. Vito Fossella out of jail following his drunken-driving arrest gave up her own promising intelligence career at the Pentagon when she couldn't juggle the demands of raising a daughter on her own, her relatives said.
Laura Fay, 45, a comely blonde with two failed marriages, kept a low profile yesterday as questions con tinued to haunt the one-time Air Force colonel over her relationship with Fossella.

His constituency would tolerate a DWI - but the underlying drama it seems to have uncovered is more of a problem.

Vito Fossella (R) Staten Island
Guilty.
Wrong answer!
I see this worsening story as a real blow to conservative Republicans in the New York metro area.
Fossella is driving drunk in the DC area and when the police stop him, he says he was driving to see his sick daughter.
His legitimate daughter was presumably, at the time, up in Staten Island with his wife Mary.
The police take him into custody and he is signed out early in the a.m. by Laura Fay - a "friend" of Fossella's who lives near where he was pulled over and is a divorcee living alone with her toddler daughter.
I'l bet this is a real hoot to the Guardsmen on, say, their second or third tour.
Yea, having your “goomara” bail you out is appropriate
behavior. This is another Republican house seat that will be
lost. The entire local, state, and national elected leaders
of New York are so corrupted that it’s astonishing.
we can’t judge his guilt or innocence until we see a photo of Ms Fey.
True that.
It’s too bad then that this guy apparently has a zipper problem. Another lost seat to the Rats.
Another New York politician. Is it something in the water? Viagra?
Lt. Col. Laura Fay
The Rats are celebrating. The last time a Rat held that seat was during the Abscam fiasco. The Staten Island Congressman John Murphy, Sr. was the first in line to get a pay off. Fossella did a lot good for Staten Island. To bad, he can’t keep it in his pants and the booze out of his mouth before driving. There are no excuses for driving drunk.
Unless you are Patches Kennedy and then there are excuses upon excuses upon even more excuses to drive drunk and high.
I’m not sure I agree with the designation of that as “comely”.
Eh, she’s guilty, too.
Most of Vito Fossella’s family on Staten Island are still Democrats. Some of them have drinking problems, fidelity problems, family problems. They are human. There is no excuse for drunk driving. He should be prosecuted for that. As for anything else, it is up to his constituency to decided whether he stays or should go. The NY Daily News is very interested in this Staten Islander. They usually don’t give a tinker’s dam about Staten Island. I find this very interesting.
Guilty!
