A young woman jumped out a second story window after being sexually assaulted early Sunday morning at her home near the University of Minnesota campus, according to Minneapolis Police.
Police said a 20-year-old woman was confronted by a stranger in her residence on the 1000 block of 15th Avenue S.E. The woman was sexually assaulted and then fled out of a second story window, breaking her ankle from the fall. Police said she then ran to a neighbor's house to report the assault.
Minneapolis police are investigating this recent incident.
On April 26, an 18-year-old female student was sexually assaulted in Pioneer Hall, a campus dorm building.
According to police, one suspect grabbed the victim and pulled her into the restroom on the third floor of the dorm. A second suspect held her down while the first suspect assaulted her. Police said the attackers ran and the young woman got help from a friend in the building.
Police have not arrested anyone in the April 26 incident. They do not believe Sunday's incident is related to the assault in April.
One pull of the trigger could also have killed the girl. Depends on who gains control of the weapon, and I’m betting she wasn’t the strongest of the two.
Here is somthing to chew on. Most armed people don't become victims.
Universities are more likely to cover up the incidents than to admit how their policies (of all kinds) make students targets of predators (of all kinds).
A bandana worn around the head of gang bangers to identify their affiliation. Otherwise known as colors.
God made man. Sam Colt made them equal.
If I had a dog in this hunt, I’d tell you.
To answer your question, the conclusion that I draw from the fact that college girls are raped in student housing is that a sexual predator is targeting girls in student housing. He could just as well have targeted them off-campus.
Here’s what I am trying so say, from experience of sending three kids to college and observing, up close, both security and lifestyle in college dorms:
Those are young adults. They keep absurd hours. They socialize and study at all hours. The dorms, even with the best electronic security, are a place where many people come and go every day.
In my children’s cases, there were electronic entry keys. In theory, only dorm residents could enter. In reality, there’s so much coming and going that they let each other in and out. I have no idea how the university can monitor that kind of student behavior.
These kids are trusting. They’re meeting lots of new people all the time. They don’t think bad things will happen to them. The university (and parents, please) can teach caution and install the latest in security, but it’s still going to be a place that is ripe for an evil perp to take advantage.
We should place blame where it belongs, on the creep who’s doing this, and hope he gets caught soon.
I thought the poster was refering to something connected with dew, instead of a shortened form of hairdo like the clothing article suggests.
And if she was armed and overpowered, she would most likely be dead.
Dew.....sweat......sweatband....dewrag....
She was basically overpowered as it was. A weapon could have made the difference. I know your type. Try to understand the offender but God forbid arming the innocent.
some good points. what are your views on concealed carry?
The pattern at the U of M has become women being assaulted by (you won’t hear this from the Hennepin County Sheriff, nor the University of Minnesota...) Somali males, not U of M students, just opportunists, knowing that the ‘U’ is a gun free zone.
????
This is the banglist and generally the most vulnerable members of society are those who most need technological advantages to prevail over predators.
The primary tool in this technological competition is mindset and the ability to acquire, possess, transport and competently use weapons especially firearms.
Your objection is unclear. This assault is absolutely about guns and should be.
Best regards,

The Gun is Civilization
by Marko Kloos of the
Munchkin Wrangler blog
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, thats it.
In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.
When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.
The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.
There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that wed be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the muggers potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiatit has no validity when most of a muggers potential marks are armed.
People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and thats the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.
Then theres the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.
People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones dont constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.
The gun is the only weapon thats as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldnt work as well as a force equalizer if it wasnt both lethal and easily employable.
When I carry a gun, I dont do so because I am looking for a fight, but because Im looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I dont carry it because Im afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesnt limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation...and thats why carrying a gun is a civilized act.
So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced.
You just can't keep sending young kids out like lambs for the slaughter without a method of defense regardless of the views posted by some here.
Suspect 1: Black male, 20 to 24 years old, about 6 feet tall, muscular build, short, dark hair Suspect 2: Black male, 18 to 22 years old, 5’7 to 5’10 inches tall, muscular build, short, dark hair

I would prefer the woman took care of the situation herself. I’ll give her the authority to determine if this rapist deserves the death penalty since she was the victim. Instaed of running for the window I’d prefer she ran for her purse or desk drawer for an equalizer.
I don't think he will get it. What's up?
The U of M continues to be an unsafe/deadly campus.
Not so, in my neighborhood.
If you know what I mean.
