Obama's big disconnect

By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW

For Barack Obama, closing the deal with Democrat voters has become like herding cats: He just can't get them all lined up and coordinated on his side. This nation has a history of looking closely at its candidates and taking their measure before they vote for them. It is a process that Obama shuns and rival Hillary Clinton thrives on -- and therein lies the problem for Democrats.

Obama, who leads both in pledged delegates and in the popular vote, cannot close the gap with lunch-pail Democrats, older voters and (for lack of a better term) white people.

Obama on the top of the ticket with or without Hillary is not a winner. I do think however Clinton on top with Barry as VP would be very hard for the RINO relic to beat. People vote the top of ticket, not for VP. Obama has problems and Bill and Hillary as co VP’s would add to them. But if Hillary runs with Barry as VP, that would be a unifier for the black vote of the Democrat Party. Bottom line is Barry can bring blacks to the polls as VP. Hillary as VP will not bring enough white voters to the ticket to put Barry and his lovely wife Michelle in the White House.

A better term might be...Caucasians.

I wonder why the author said, for lack of a better term, white people? Reporters talk all the time about African-Americans, black people, Latinos, people of color, etc. without searching for a better term, or apologizing for the use of such a term.

I’m here to help see it happen. He’s a jerk.

From Dreams of My Father: “I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”

From Dreams of My Father: “I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.”

From Dreams of My Father: “There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.”

From Dreams of My Father: “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.”

From Dreams of My Father: “I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.”

From Audacity of Hope: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

And anyone who disses McCain for his perceived indiscretions is wrong. He gets a pass for he did for this country by God.

90 percent of Obama’s popular vote lead comes from the Illinois primary.

Maybe they heard about this...

Obama: Man of the World
By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
Published: March 6, 2007

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to
prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that
seemed delightfully uncalculated [...], Mr. Obama described the
call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at
sunset."

Clinton on top with Barry as VP..

Would thoroughly PO the black vote, not unify it.

If Barry is not at the top, on the ticket or not, the black vote is diminished for the Dems.
