Even though my son was a Navy baby, he was born at Langley. His daddy was out at sea on his submarine, and I went into labor all by myself. I called my mother in Kentucky and she drove all night to get to Langley in time. She was there for the birth, so I wasn’t alone.

She recently passed away from lung cancer. And before she died I told her that I felt fortunate to have my mother there with me. It was such a beautiful experience. I know she treasured it, too.

I hope to one day take my son to Langley, and the Norfolk base, and show him where we lived on the Chesapeake Bay when he was born.

Good memories. Thanks for sharing the pictures. My young son will enjoy them very much.
