The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (Pub.L. 110-140, originally named the CLEAN Energy Act of 2007)
is an Act of Congress concerning the energy policy of the United States which was introduced in the House of Representatives by Democrats as part of their 100-Hour Plan during the 110th Congress. After further amendments and negotiation between the House and Senate, a revised bill passed both houses and was signed into law on December 19, 2007.
It took them nearly 13 months to get this mess made into a law that only lasted 4 months before they want to gut it.
What a waste of air, time and space these "people" are.

“Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) joined 23 other Senate Republicans in sending a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency asking the agency to consider waiving ethanol mandates.”
Well, isn’t that special. Senators are petitioning unelected, unaccountable fascist bureaucrats to change the law. If congress is no longer in charge and can’t make law, go home, you fink bastards, so we may retarget our weapons against the real enemy.

A very good move by McCain. It's a good start.
Now, if he would do the same regarding campaign finance 'reform' and its unintended consequences, *AND* choose a solid conservative running mate, he just may get the base on board.

Next, McCain needs to change his position on ANWR.

A very good move by McCain. Yes, indeed it was. George Bush is still making ethanol noises (even if the press distorts exactly what he said yesterday), but McCain has just done a U-turn.

Regarding drawbacks to corn-based ethanol, I'm keeping an eye on the following development in ethanol production.

Cut all aid to the UN and reinvest that money into a “Manhattan Project” for oil exploration and drilling science. That would be money well spent.

"It isn't a surprise that food prices are rising when more than 25% of the corn grown today is taken out of the food supply and instead used for subsidised ethanol production," McCain said in a statement....We need to put an end to flawed government policies that distort the markets, raise food prices artificially, and pit producers against consumers." -
