For more than 200 years, America reigned as the worlds most productive, prosperous, powerful and generous nation on earth. Like all nations, America is nothing more or less than the sum of its people and their belief system.

In the case of America, they were once a people who had risked all to gain national independence and sovereignty, individual liberty and personal freedom for every man, woman and child. Generation after generation volunteered the blood of its best citizens to protect individual rights from all who would attack them in the name of some greater common good.

The brave who demanded to be free, understood that there is no good on earth greater than that of individual freedom and thousands of good men have died preserving those freedoms for others.

Today, these ideas are capturing the imaginations of people around the world who have never known freedom, thanks to the American spirit still alive and well in the American soldier, who still offers his life to provide freedom for complete strangers all over the world.

But in America, these Same Ideas are Dying

But in America, these Same Ideas are Dying

Now we have altruism, collectivism, egalitarianism, statism, and socialism.

I am well on my way to losing faith in my fellow Americans.

Most Americans know full well that universal health care and socialized medicine are exactly the same thing. But half of them vote for it anyway, then wonder what happen to their freedoms...

Our country has gone insane...

And many of the conservatives I have counted upon to do the right thing all my life, are pretending to do something patriotic by “sitting it out” or “party jumping” and becoming the “good men who did nothing” when evil knocked at their door.

Obama nor Clinton could ever become president without the help of so-called “conservatives” who are so blinded by righteous anger, that they will help seat one of the two most anti-American candidates to ever run for office.

By doing what they did in 1992 and 1996, repeating the same mistakes, they will relive history. Only this time, it won't be a playboy from Arkansas playing President, but a Marxist cow or a Muslim racist...

Like the Roman Senator who ended each speech with ("Et Carthago est delenda" -- And Carthage must be destroyed) the GOP needs to pick a main task and focus on achieving it.

Tax reform, Social Security reform, education reform, all of these (and more than these) need to be attacked. The GOP needs to pick one and beat it into submission over a 5 or 10 year period. Then focus on the next. All we really do is talk about the big pile of problems. We don't ever make progress on any of them.

I agree with everything you say. I am disgusted by most of the American people.

Simple math - when the have nots and the losing grounders far outnumber the haves and the “haves” are portrayed as normal lifestyles on everyman’s tv, schemes to redistribute wealth, stop the “elitists” and “corporate greed” will become popular. This is not new. It is a repeat of history. Look at past US populist movements.

Look at the last turn of the century (1890s-1910.) Books were the rage like the “The Octopus,” Sinclair’s “The Jungle.”

Chances are if you are anti-populist, we are a “haver” with a stake in maintaining the economic status quo.

Great article except the “10 cannots” part of the article is attributed to Lincoln but Lincoln never wrote that, it was written by Reverend William John Henry Boetcker.

Nice article. right to the point and exact in every detail.

But ... too little to late.

As Rambo's commander said “... It's over Johnny!”

For those of you with young children and grandchildren ... they'll be growing up in an excriment-hole in the next 20-30 years and won't even understand the concept of liberty.

Franklin (and others) gave us a Republic if we could keep it.

By the end of the twentieth century that Republic had morphed into a democracy, certainly helped mightily along by the popular election of US senators, something the framers had deliberately not done.

Once the Republic had become a democracy aka mob rule (and helped along with all the gimmies and freebies) it was just a matter of time until we’re we got we’re we are now.

Hey where’s my FEMA debit card, my stimulus check, and my free TV converter???
