By Brian Koonz THE NEWS-TIMES DANBURY - After blasting President Bush and the nation's immigration policy Sunday, the Rev. Al Sharpton said he plans to get arrested in New York on Wednesday as part of a civil disobedience demonstration to protest the Sean Bell verdict. Sharpton, the Brooklyn-born civil rights activist, said he plans to get arrested at One Police Plaza at 3 p.m. to protest last month's acquittals of three New York police detectives in the 50-shot barrage that killed Bell, who was unarmed.
Sharpton revealed his arrest plans, the cornerstone of a six-site demonstration, at New Hope Baptist Church in Danbury on Sunday. Sharpton spoke for nearly an hour as the guest speaker for the church's 113th anniversary program.
"God used David to challenge Goliath," Sharpton told about 350 people. "So what makes you think God can't use Al Sharpton to challenge George Bush?"
It was only a rhetorical question, but the words were met with rousing applause.
Sharpton also blasted Danbury officials for the way they've handled the illegal immigration issue. Earlier this year, the Danbury Police Department entered into an alliance with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.
"I don't lie to folks and then deport them," Sharpton said, shaking his head. "I'm coming to a town of switch - and - bait."
He also criticized the Bush administration as one "that can see weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that's not there, but couldn't see a hurricane in New Orleans that was there."
The 53-year-old Sharpton was referring to the delay in federal aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Oh, he’s a tool alright; but I doubt that God has much use for him.

Oh but they will be tried again! This time it will be a civil trial - just as in the O.J. trial. Sharpton's organization will back (fund) it and Sharpton will get millions when the suit is settled by the city out of court for an "undisclosed" amount. The poor police officers will be "reassigned" to counting snowflakes and never heard from again.
Sharpton will be the hero (spelled r-i-c-h hero) once again. As usual, this is all about the money.

So the Sean Bell verdict is George Bush’s fault now?
They successfully managed to blame a friggin' hurricane on him. NOTHING shocks me anymore. ;)
Instead of arresting him, they should send him to the nearest mental hospital for a 30 day mental evaluation.
The modern black leaders are racists. They think that black criminals should be allowed to run over police officers. Rather than promote racial reconciliation they promote divisiveness.
