On Meet the Press this morning Obama mistook Iran for Israel when talking about defending them against an Iranian attack. He said, "Israel is an ally of ours, it's the most important ally we have in the region and there is no doubt that we would act forcefully and appropriately on any attack against Iran, nuclear or otherwise"
Russert didn't even realize the mistake. Freudian slip?!?

I have seen Russerts interviews when he wants to make someone look bad or stupid. This interview was pure “softballs”. He never brought up the Weather Underground friends or Rezko. He went easy on him on the Wright situation and otherwise gave Obama a platform to go after Hillary. Is NBC/MSNBC on the Obama payroll?

He clearly say in response to Russert about “obliterating Iran” that “if Israel attacked Iran”and it was said in that context.
This was the soundbite that will be replayed among the pro-Israeli constituents that he will be demanded to explain.

I'm surprised Russert didn't notice it, because I heard it from my kitchen and was shocked. I tivo'd it and replayed it just to make sure I heard him correctly. Russert just nodded away like nothing was said.
