Anyone taking religious advice from a talk-show host, herself engaged in unmarried cohabitation with a live-in boyfriend, gets exactly what they deserve.

Reminds me of the “EST” movement back in the 70’s. Snake oil never goes out of style.
What was “EST”?
Oprah left Rev. Wright’s church for this?
Someone will know better, but I think in EST you stayed in the room for hours with no bathroom breaks while some guy you paid $200 bucks talked bad to you. That's where I left the bus.
Yeah, but can they levitate the Pentagon?
LOL!!! Now that is funny.
The Best Of Est?

By CHARLOTTE FALTERMAYER WITH REPORTING BY RICHARD WOODBURY/SAN FRANCISCO Article
Buzz When Werner Erhard (born John Paul Rosenberg) founded Erhard Seminars Training, Inc. in 1971, the former used-car salesman from Philadelphia had a hook. Born of the theater-of-the-absurd atmosphere of the late 1960s, est (Latin for “it is”) promised to help people get “it,” whatever “it” was.
Erhard’s 60-hour seminars were strenuous ordeals, complete with “body catchers” and barf bags for the weak of mind and stomach. Trainers applauded bladder control and cursed those who didn’t get it. Still, Erhard and his message proved popular, even winning celebrity advocates.
Then, after two decades and two divorces, the self-help messiah vanished amid reports of tax fraud (which proved false and won him $200,000 from the IRS) and allegations of incest (which were later recanted).

Tell me about orpah?
Thinks she everones mommy,or is so arrogant to believe that her money gives her the final say, so you must do whatever I decide is best for you.
I mean afterall I AM SO IMPORTANT IN MY MINDS EYE.
I did some EST and even went to the “Six Day”. Bailed after the first day, first meeting after hearing about the person who died during the process; and how the rest of the participants kept on going. Didn’t sound like a group I’d want to hang with for 6 days.
Do you mean orca?
;-))
Oprah = Ego
Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now” helped my husband cope when we lost one of our children. Basically what he got out of it was how to train your mind not to drive you crazy with grief.
I’m glad to hear your husband is doing better. Very overwhelming and painful to lose a precious child, I know from personal experience.
I like doing research and have wanted to know what Eckhart Tolle teaches. Being born with an inquisitive nature has helped me over the years to check out the authors of books I’m going to read and to date I have not read any of Eckhart Tolle’s books.
That said, Tolle may be a fruit loop in some areas but he talks about how the mind plays constant movies in your head as if the movies are reality when in fact they are not. The trick is to teach yourself to view it as just images, not real - just images. What is happening right now is real. Not yesterday, not tomorrow. Now is real. In other words, live in the now, not grieving the past or fearing the future.
I hope you have found peace from torment in your life. It's been three years for us and it's a little better but the damage done is indescribable.
