An excellent article. Sufficiently technical for the layman to understand (including color graphs) and damning in its exposure of the data's manipulation by NASA's Hansen. Hansen, by the way, ranted against use of coal at a left wing fringe event the other day, calling for its use to be banned after 2030 (
NASA's Hansen Rails Against Coal At Fringe Left-Wing Event).

Has anybody considered the possibility that the long-term, average temperature of the earth may essentially be constant?
To: CedarDave
Whoops! Left out a sentence in the middle of the article. Here is the way it should read:
Two authorities provide us with analysis of long-term surface temperature trends. Both agree on the global temperature trend until 1998, at which time a sharp divergence occurred. The UK Meteorological Office's Hadley Center for Climate Studies Had-Crut data shows worldwide temperatures declining since 1998. According to Hadley's data, the earth is not much warmer now than it was than it was in 1878 or 1941.
By contrast, NASA data shows worldwide temperatures increasing at a record pace - and nearly a full degree warmer than 1880.
The other two widely used global temperature data sources are from earth-orbiting satellites UAH (University of Alabama at Huntsville) and RSS (Remote Sensing Systems.) Both show decreasing temperatures over the last decade, with present temperatures barely above the 30 year average.

Well - for the last 6,000 years it has been pretty constant. “Coincidentally” that is when we started developing civilizations with farming, irrigation etc.

Umm, I think not. From Wikipedia:
The initials “RSS” are used to refer to the following formats:
* Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)
* RDF Site Summary (RSS 1.0 and RSS 0.90)
* Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91).

“Looking at the NASA website, we can see that the person in charge of the temperature data is the eminent Dr. James Hansen - Al Gore’s science advisor and the world’s leading long-term advocate of global warming.”
Well, well, well. I’m speachless.

Which one do we want? Warmer temperature or colder temperature? Since Karl Rove controls the weather, I think it would be prudent to put in a request.
I can control the temperature inside of my house to the nearest degree. Yet, I can never get two people to agree what temperature it should actually be.

I would say FAIRLY constant.
There was the Medieval Warm Period, when Greenland was green, followed by the Little Ice Age, where people froze their booties off.
The answer my friend is growing in the sun,(pun) not in Albore’s
or Hansen's pie holes.

I was being facetious but it's from the article also:

-—for the last half billion years or so, much of the time it was considerably warmer (coal beds at the poles prove this), but several times it was cool enough to cover a large part of the existing land mass with ice hundreds of feet deep-—

Interesting. Someone just had the title of the previous post changed. It was:
A tale of two thermometers, which is why I didn't find it when I did my search before I posted (I searched using the words earth, warmer and cooler in an attempt to get a match). In any event, here is the link to the previous thread, which now has the same title as mine:

So, it follows that Huge Al can make more money in July versus January.

The data does not support the global warming hypothesis and only when someone like Hanson massages the data to fit the model does global warming show up.
