A few weeks ago, Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, wife of Congressman and House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI), erupted at Council President Kenneth Cockrel Jr. over some inconsequential, uninteresting slight, calling him "Shrek" and incoherently mumbling about his lack of "respect."
David Freddoso links to this Detroit News video in which an unrepentant Mrs. Conyers attempts to justify her disgraceful behavior to a room full of pre-teen girls. Watch as Conyers gets workedand I mean workedby a delightful, clever, poised eighth grade girl named Kierra Bell:

Little Ms. Kierra Bell deserves an award for that! And her parents, too.
You go girl!
Probably, it's been posted several times over the last week. FreeRepublic wouldn't have phoney or fake stories on it.
Saying democrats have a low IQ is like saying water is wet.
Stating the obvious here.
Hard to walk past an easy target!

Mrs. Conyers comes from that dubious school of elocution which holds that "debates" that cannot be won by cliches can always be ended by lung-power. I did indeed mark her rudeness, but, choosing to focus on the positive, I noticed that the obviously more mature, intelligent person in the dialog lost neither the argument nor her composure.
Conyers was 100% pwned.
Bump!
People need to check out the video of that sharp-as-a-tack little girl talking to Monica Conyers. While in general I don’t like children talking to an adult in this manner for the same reason that Monica was way out of line in her insult to the president of the city council (in that there is a hierarchy of respect that should be adhered to at all times), that little girl wouldn’t back down. I could see her as a future political leader for sure.
I’d love to see her on some pundit’s show or on some of the conservative radio shows. I’d love to hear more about her and how she got so well grounded at such a young age.
Good for her. Bravo. Monica is a loser.
This has been removed from You tube and hacked at this link Wassup with that?
I guess I am not allowed to view it. What happens at the end?
The little girl understands respect. Mrs. Conyers doesn’t have a clue. What an embarrassment that anyone has ever voted for that buffoon.
The poor LITTLE girl was trying to ask a question of a moron who thinks she can di and say whatever she wants and is not to be questioned, but was handed her as* by this LITTLE girl.
This is where I disagree with you. I think that young lady handled it very respectfully. However, I just do not think children should be telling adults how to act. It is just another example of how the adults are allowing children to “run the show” which happens a lot nowadays. That child is not an adult, not a peer, and had no right to critique Conyers. While everything the child said was absolutely true, children do not have the right to talk to us as if they are our equals.
Incidentally, I took in my niece about three years ago - she was troubled and was being shuttled from family member to family member (it was a disaster). I recall one day we were having a “discussion” and she began talking to me as if she were on my level. I very quickly settled that matter. I believe as parents and adults we must always be role models and that we do need to listen to our children and give them respect but they are not our equals and this child was out of line, though respectfully so.
She was out of line for pointing out the obvious? I don’t agree with you, kids are people too, and it seems to me the girl made her point in a respectful way. She didn’t curse, she didn’t call names, she told the woman she was an adult and had a choice.
What I saw was conyers trying to bring herself down to kid level to justify her name calling, it took a 13 year old to set her straight, shame on conyers.
I appreciate your comments, but I thought in a public forum (which this was) the child made her point initially, and then Conyers started the argument with her. Look at the video again then decide who was disrespectful from the git-go. I agree that children should show respect to their elders, but I also do not think they have to be silent when they know something or somebody is doing bad things.
