Dramatic Never Before Published Images of Hiroshima in Immediate Aftermath of Bombing (Very Graphic)

The Robert L. Capp collection at the Hoover Institution Archives contains ten never-before-published photographs illustrating the immediate aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing.

These photographs, taken by an unknown Japanese photographer, were found in 1945 among rolls of undeveloped film in a cave outside Hiroshima by U.S. serviceman Robert L. Capp, who was attached to the occupation forces.
Unlike most photos of the Hiroshima bombing, these dramatically convey the human as well as material destruction unleashed by the atomic bomb.

Mr. Capp donated them to the Hoover Archives in 1998 with the provision that they not be reproduced until 2008. Three of these photographs are reproduced in Atomic Tragedy with the permission of the Capp family. The entire set is available below.

Only liberals can "concept" (I refuse to call what they do "thinking") in these terms. These people are complete idiots and need to be slapped down

"thinking" is dangerous to liberals because that's the method by which their lunacy becomes clearly visible. thats why for the most part our public schools have become "feeling" factories.

i would enthusiastically support making "slapping down liberals" an olympic event.

After all, the idea is (supposed to be, we might want to let our politicians know about this) to win the war as quickly as possible.

The war isn't over until the enemy's will to fight is broken.

Unless one is evil, the idea isn't to kill as many of the other side as possible.

The idea is to kill as many as it takes to break the enemy's will.

That can be many or few, it all depends on the enemy. If, in the case of islamists, it is all 1.3 billion of them, I can live with that. Especially since the only alternative islam offers its opponents is a quick bloody death or the slower death of abject slavery.

The Allied end was unquestionably honorable and right, being perhaps the most justified war in history.

So, the Nazis, who only wanted a 1000 Jahr Reich, are worse than the islamists who want ummah, an eternal hell on earth?

Please justify that?

My husband’s uncle died in Cabanatuan. The Japanese sure knew plenty about dishing out hell.

Sad to hear. Dishing out hell was sport, second nature to them. On second thought, first, actually. Thanks for your comments.

And of course, some of the most famous last words ever spoken came at Hiroshima. What the f**k was that?!?! Mayor of Hiroshima, August 1945.

Yeah, the Nazis were worse. Much worse.

The Nazis, in full control of a technologically advanced European state, in some ways THE most technologically advanced state on Earth, intended to conquer the world and impose their master race ideology everywhere.

They had a significant potential to make this actually happen, despite the significant odds against them.

The Islamists, assuming they gain control of all Muslims on earth, will have charge of a third-world society with no ability to produce any of the essential tools of modern warfare, much less create new and more destructive ones.

IOW, the Nazis had an actual chance of winning by overpowering their opposition. The Islamists have no such chance, and can only win if their opponents utterly wimp out, which I must admit is possible.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “ummah,” although I suspect you’re misusing the term. Ummah refers to the community of Muslims believers on earth, not to some specific plan for the future.

I disagree. Nazism would be unlikely to survive a generation or two past Hitler and his cronies.

islam would be more likely to persist as a cancer on humanity's soul for centuries or millennia.

Good arguments on either side, and I think we can both agree that the species is far better off without either one.

BTW, what's the proper word for universal muslim rule? (An impossible goal, as there is no universal muslim faith, any old ass can declare hissssself as the authority on what mad mohammad meant when he said "x")

Reasons that the Japanese surrendered...

1. Atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
2. Massive Soviet offensive took Manchuria in 2 days. Japan didn’t want the same fate as E. Germany.

The two combined events caused the surrender of Japan.
