(CNN) — Actress Elizabeth Taylor urged voters in next week’s Democratic primaries to back Hillary Clinton's White House run, saying in a statement released Friday that the New York senator was “not a flibbertijibbet.”

“It would be magnificent for our country if Senator Clinton won the votes, hearts and minds of the people in Indiana and North Carolina on Tuesday. She’s a brilliant teacher and powerful leader. We all know what she’s about. We know what she isn’t. Senator Clinton is not a flibbertijibbet [sic]. She’s strong,” said Taylor.

“It’s also important for great leaders to have a sense of humor about themselves. The future of our great country rests in the hands of the next president. Who sits in the Oval Office will be determined greatly by the citizens of Indiana and North Carolina. In my heart, I know they will choose wisely and they will choose well.”

The actress and activist is a longtime Clinton supporter who has donated the legal maximum of $4,600 to the senator’s campaign.

In January 2007, Taylor also pointed to Clinton’s toughness...

I attended some parties with Liz when she was with Sen. John Warner.

She resembled Rosanne Barr (before Barr's cosmetic surgery), staggered, slurred her words and used foul language.

Other than that, she was a very stylish, charming matron (not!)

LOL! How embarrassing for her husband! I don’t know how she could have ever thought she’d be happy out in horse country and fairly rigid D.C.

She was so gorgeous that I wonder if beauty like that is a curse - in that you have to watch it slowly dissipate.

On the other hand there is Sophia Loren who as chosen a different path.

Remember when Liz married Warner she had been married to Burton twice, Fisher, Todd, etc., etc., etc.

She had already quite the reputation of a heavy boozer by that time and it really showed on her, especially her face, already puffy jowls and around her greatly lauded eyes.

What really stands out, though are how very pudgy her hands were.

Maybe I concentrated on them as there were some receiving lines.

Anyway, I remember she wore tent style dresses that came just about or above her knees. They were beautiful silk numbers but seemed to make her look even larger.

Just goes to show, fame, fortune and privilege really count for nothing and she really is to be pitied now.

It’s overwrought, but not awful. The bathing suit scene made a big impression on me as a kid and could be worth the rest of it. And in some contexts, cannibalism can be funny.

I remember an interview she had on TV at that time. She mentioned that she liked vegetables - potatoes. LOL She had gained a lot of weight. She went from one extreme to another - so stunning to a caricature of her former self.

I bet she hated doing the Senate wife thing.

Didn’t you know that severe cases of cankles cause such enlargement of the ankles that garments like pants have to be cut off?

Liz Taylor was and always will be a “broad” and that’s just the way I love her...sorry.

A couple of months back my Mother who’s 77 sadly looked in the mirror and said to my Dad, My God! I’m so old, fat and dumpy looking. My Dad responded with, “Well look on the bright side, you always wanted to look like Liz Taylor and now you do! True Story.
