(CNN) — Actress Elizabeth Taylor urged voters in next week’s Democratic primaries to back Hillary Clinton's White House run, saying in a statement released Friday that the New York senator was “not a flibbertijibbet.”

“It would be magnificent for our country if Senator Clinton won the votes, hearts and minds of the people in Indiana and North Carolina on Tuesday. She’s a brilliant teacher and powerful leader. We all know what she’s about. We know what she isn’t. Senator Clinton is not a flibbertijibbet [sic]. She’s strong,” said Taylor.

“It’s also important for great leaders to have a sense of humor about themselves. The future of our great country rests in the hands of the next president. Who sits in the Oval Office will be determined greatly by the citizens of Indiana and North Carolina. In my heart, I know they will choose wisely and they will choose well.”

The actress and activist is a longtime Clinton supporter who has donated the legal maximum of $4,600 to the senator’s campaign.

In January 2007, Taylor also pointed to Clinton’s toughness...

I dunno, but I can easily guess who the lamp and ashtray thrower in the picture would be endorsing!

Richard always seemed very magnetic to me. They say she was the ruin of him.
He really did have an amazing talent and charisma and she, in her day, was breathtaking. I knew someone who went to a Hollywood premier and he said with a room full of gorgeous women, he couldn’t take his eyes off of Liz.

A woman I know whose whole family is in the movie business said that most of those people are unhappy.

Hammy, annoying, overbearing actress, too short, too much makeup, Britney Spears of her day, what is it?

I thought that was “Suddenly Last Summer.” She was good-looking in “Butterfield 8” as well. Regarding screen actors and actresses from the 50’s and 60’s, both the men and women were much classier then. I don’t know why, too much fluoride in the water, perhaps.

Yes she is strong, Liz..

It's that same damn pant suit she keeps wearing. It needs to go to the cleaners already!

“Suddenly, Last Summer” is the one with the white bathing suit. Montgomery Clift is in it too. It has a colorful and sordid plot. Liz is a mental patient and Katharine Hepburn is her aunt. Her male cousin was using both of them as sexual bait for Spanish street urchins, but the latter turned the tables on him and cannibalized him (yes!), the sight of which drove Liz crazy. Clift is the psychiatrist who saves her from a lobotomy because Hepburn wants to eliminate her memories.

I had the good fortune to spend a day with Richard, one during which he was relatively sober, but not too sober. He was with a good friend of mine, Erben Jenkins, a distant relative of Richard, whose real last name is also Jenkins. He is very charismatic, intelligent and gracious, one who would go out of his way to make little children and old ladies feel important, even though they weren’t part of the conversation.

That’s the one. I’ve got to see it again, now that I’m not too young to follow it. My memory of it is vague.
