Since when does the Fed tell states how high a fine can be?

Don’t get off the bus yet. It sounds like that if they can resolve the conflict with Federal law about the fines, he’d pass it. Sanford’s no Pandsey Graham.
What I can’t figure out is when Glenn McConnell went off his meds. That’s a REPUBLICAN backstabbing Sanford. When I lived down there, McConnell was a pretty stand-up guy. I can’t figure out why he’d invoke Godwin’s Law (an automatic loss of any argument, as any Internet nerd knows) and start name-dropping Nazis when talking about Sanford.

The bill allows for fines as high as $10,000 when an employer knowingly hires an illegal immigrant.
That’s just so wrong. The employer should be deported since he obviously has no loyalty to the US.

I guess he’s hoping McPain notices that he’s a team player.
To: Clear Rivers
Sanford says federal law won't allow the state to impose fines that range that high. Sanford has vetoed other bills that he believed would not stand up in the courts. He is a real stickler for the law.

This has been a heated debate in SC for weeks and the state senate is the biggest bunch of liars in the country!!! The Senate blames the House, the House blames the Senate and then they all turn around and blame Sanford!
Sanford supported E-Verify which was adopted by OK, etc. SC has the largest increase in Mexican illegals in the entire country!!! So what does the senate do???? They pass a bill with SC-9...their version of the federal I-9 form. And the catch is, there is no SC-9 form! It doesn't exist!! They say it will be developed. Basically all it will be is a state version of I9 and that isn't good enough!! We are overrun in this state with illegals and it has cost this state more then it's citizens even realize!! Sanford is trying to do all he can to stop the flow of illegals into our state especially since GA has now adopted a tougher law. This states politicians are an embarrassment

And this is the guy that some people say would make a great conservative VP for McCain ?????
To: Tennessee Nana
Maybe he’s doing this to make himself more attractive to McCain.

THIS JUST IN A US crackdown is causing the longest and most significant drop in illegal migration from Mexico since the Sept. 11 attacks.
Officials say the U.S. economic downturn, tighter security and a more perilous and expensive journey are persuading many who try to sneak into the US to give up sooner.
Border Patrol arrests are down 17 percent so far this year along the US-Mexico border after falling 20 percent all of last fiscal year and 8 percent the year before that.
While it’s impossible to know how many people are crossing illegally, the Patrol uses apprehensions to estimate the ebb and flow of traffic.
Migrant smugglers have to hunt for business at border-town shelters.
Many deported migrants give up after one try, taking their government up on free bus rides home.

Don't make me laugh--$10K is a slap on the wrist.
Try $25K. Much better attention getter.
