They later imprisoned him "for his own safety", but when the rioters marched to the prison to continue their protest, the officers and university officials had him executed and beheaded. Sorba's head was placed on a pike before the rioters who tossed bags of excrement at it. All of this was for Sorba's own safety.

Reminds me of that piece I read in a freshman lit class about the man who had "gone too far." It concludes, "and no one has gone too far since."
For some reason, of everything I've read, that goofy, cryptic piece has always had a spot on a dusty shelf in the very back of my brain.
That, and this line (from a different piece, entitled "Paranoia"): "You close your eyes and all you see are breasts." That's not paranoia.
And of course, that meant I had to look up the other one, but naturally that one isn't to be found so easily...
