Quebec provincial police say the body of a political aide to a prominent provincial cabinet minister has been found in the basement of an abandoned home in Riviere-Ouelle, Que.
Nancy Michaud, 37, an aide to Natural Resources Minister Claude Bechard, disappeared early Friday from her home in what was described by police as a violent kidnapping.
Police, acting on a tip, found her body Sunday afternoon in the abandoned home just a few kilometres from her own residence in the small Quebec town, about 140-kilometres northeast of Quebec City.
Police spokesman Claude Ross says police have not made any arrests in the case.
The mother of two vanished sometime around midnight on Friday.
Her husband returned home to find their young children an 18-month old and a six-year-old, fast asleep but Michaud gone.
Police broadcast surveillance camera footage of a masked individual, about 5-foot-5, withdrawing money from two bank accounts belonging to Michaud and her husband at a nearby automated teller were released to the public on Saturday.
