All we hear these days is whining from reckless home borrowers and their banks.

But did you know that renters are 32 percent of American households? And that homes in foreclosure are less than 2 percent?

So why is Congress rushing to bailout high-flying borrowers and their lenders with our tax dollars?

Sign the petition, watch the video and then check out the pictures from the Capitol Hill delivery!

The next wave of signatures will be delivered next week.

I suspect it has to do with the fact that their tax money is being used to bail out home owners.

A million renters having trouble keeping up with their rent payments doesn't have the economic impact of banks going under after a million homeowners default on their mortgages. [or whatever the number is]

I think the govt should have stayed out of the subprime thingy, but IMO the pols were afraid of the political fallout arising from what I described in the preceding paragraph.

*If they are renting, what are they mad about?*

Because Renters pay rent or are evicted

Those who think they have to own a home can’t pay for it
but are bailed out.
(They don’t deserve to be bailed out for stupid decisions)

I agree it is less of an issue. For mortgage brokers.

I still think that robbing renters to shore up failed homeowners is wrong.

If government wants to help us out (and I say "us" as both a current homeowner and as a previous renter) how about cutting the tax rate 5% or so?

Of course -- it's part of the monthly rent payment.

Yes, one of the ways the owner receives some of the money to pay his taxes.

Most home owners couldn’t afford to rent here in San Diego.
The average 1 bedroom is $1,400+ a month

Received notice here that rent is being raised again, 4th time in 6 years. Is the owner truly in need of this from me and the 74 other tenants? People are moving out at a higher rate; where does it end?

They (me) are angry about bailing out homeowners with their taxes.

I am a long-time renter.
Military family. Moved alot!
My husband and I took care of my mother and brother financially for many years. (Not complaining, just stating for reference).
We slowly were saving for a (at least) 20% down payment. I didn’t want to get in over our heads.

Financially and honestly I still feel we made the right decision. But now I will pay, with my taxes, for others to own their house.

I don’t mind not owning one right now. That’s life.
But I DO mind paying for others to own theirs. This is not just about current, honest homeowners getting screwed.
No matter who you are, if you are NOT holding your hand out, you are getting screwed.
