As a Freeper since ‘98 I can’t believe how stupid this forum has become. It was the original PJ Media. Now you have to scroll through a hundred “me too” posts to find any insight or additional information. I doubt if even JimRob spends much time here.

In all fairness some people post before reading the entire thread. In a case like "Arkancide" it probabably just popped into their heads and they posted.

However, I agree with your assessment. The Free Republic of the lates 90s, early 2000s was a lot better than it is now. The level of the discussion was much higher. Spent many a long night browsing through threads.

Nowadays, so many posters are obsessed with illegal immigration to the exclusion of all else. We should have a thread on this topic, pinging all the pre-2001 members.

I've noticed the same thing. It makes me sad because this is one of my all-time favorite sites. It's harder and harder to find insightful threads. The news articles are still good though.

I attribute the steep decline to the numerous 'purges' of dissenting conservatives.

The unfortunate decision to create Moderators was a major turning point.

The dumbing-down herd mentality moves drove off valuable input.
