Trooper kicks K9 partner

RALEIGH - A hearing into the firing of a state trooper accused of mistreating his police dog opened today with a video of the officer kicking the dog as it was suspended from the railing of a loading dock. The 15-second video, taken by another trooper using his cell phone, shows Sgt. Charles L. Jones kicking the dog, Ricoh, five times. The dog was tied to the railing by its leash at the time, with its front paws in the air and its rear paws touching the ground. With each kick, the dog swung about two feet under the dock.

1. Judges in North Carolina are elected.

2. If the people of North Carolina believe the law to be wrong, then they need to work through their elected representatives to change it.

3. Throwing a tantrum and calling the judge trying to influence his decision is mob rule. We don't do that in this Country.

Ray Charles and Helen Keller both could plainly see in the video that the thug HUNG the dog BY THE NECK (he even gave and extra tug by leaning his weight into the hanging leash for effect!) and then the thug kicks the poor animal and the dog SWINGS BY THE LEASH AROUND THE NECK.

So yes, the thug defacto swung the dog by the leash by KICKING it. Whether you like it or not.

The article doesn't have to SAY what ordinary citizens (non-thug apologists) can see plainly with their eyes! A dog...swinging by the neck due to the actions of a thug cop.

This is not dog training. This abuse by a thug. No trainer kicks their dog (or K-9 unit)!

But you go ahead and try to put lipstick on a pig by trying make his partner appear like a “hero” for video taping WHILE HE LAUGHED and GIGGLED with delight!

And you'll notice that there are at least TWO giggling thugs in the background cenversing.

One of my friends claimed that “cops are nothing but the loser from high school looking to get back at the world”.

While I think the comment is a bit too sweeping of a generalization, the thug in this video fits the description perfectly. And boot lickers make me SICK! *spit*

“We do not convict people in the court of public opinion in this country. We might not like the guy, we might not like what he did, but he has a right to due process.”

Missed out of the FLDS threads I take it...

I know some good cops...There are more good and caring than not...

The issue here is systemic...all to often there is a culteral attitude of “us vs them”.....if your not a cop...you are just a potential perp..

Well, I am ready to jump on the bandwagon! Seeing even one kick to any animal is enough to prove abuse to me. I don't need to see numerous such instances or hear explanations as to why it was done!!! :~(

Since we can't ask the dog if he likes being kicked, I guess we'll never know if he considers it to be a "game", will we???.

And, yes, my dog likes to play tug-of-war, too. My dog is a Shiba Inu, not sure where they stand on the intelligence scale of dogs, but all I have to say is "give it" and she lets go of the tug toy! Geesh! I had never trained a dog before this, so I guess it can't be all that difficult.

An eye for an eye.

Hang him from a railing and have someone more than twice his size use him for football practice.

I don’t view calling an elected official a “tantrum”. As a group we contact our elected representatives every day. That is what this Country was founded on.

Very clever, but the poster above implied the dog was helicoptered by the leash, swings as in "spun." That's not in the article.

I may not be the smartest card in the deck at times but, even I know what “helicoptering” means - without the definition! I used to do it with my girls when they were small - holding their hands, of course!

That's just it, though. By the hands (or paws), not all that harmful. By a leash around the neck, obviously very harmful.

Has anyone taken notice of the fact reported on Fox News this morning that the dog was checked out by a vet after the incident and was found to be physically unharmed?

Pestering the judge is unAmerican in my opinion.

Its called freedom of speech IMO. Criminals write judges all the time in case you are unaware of that. They get family members & counselors to write on their behalf. The letters are read too. If you find it unAmerican then don't do it. Who are you to tell anyone who wants to contact the judge etc that it is unAmerican? Glad it it just your opinion & not everyones.

Well, obviously I do not agree with your opinion. I also e-mailed the governor about the case. I intend to publicize this as much as possible, in spite of what you or anyone else thinks.

That's true and it is very nice that you posted it, but here is what I asked (and ask again):

Where does it say he swung the dog in a circle [ahem, like a helicopter] by the leash?

While Crim’s post about defending yourself from attacks by police dogs isn’t necessarily a proper reading of the law, that doesn’t mean the spirit of his post was totally off base. North Carolina courts have found that just being belligerent and lunging and growling at a police dog are sufficient to be guilty of assault on a law enforcement animal.

Maybe you're a better trainer or your dog is smarter. Who knows? Maybe the guy made the mistake of playing tug of war too often with his dog and the dog thought it was always a game. That's the trainer's fault. But we are talking about a working dog here, one that needs to follow rules and obey ALL the time and not just when he feels like it.

Now I agree that if he had it strung up by his neck and was kicking it for no good reason (as the story tries strongly to imply) than it's horrible. But if he's trying to make it let go of it's leash out of it's mouth and the dog doesn't take him seriously than I can understand his tactics .

I know many fine sworn LEOs.
Nearly all are good men and women.

But apologizing for thug behavior is disgusting.
We put much power and trust into LEOs and abuse is never acceptable, whether to defenseless man or defensless beast.
That kind of behavior must NEVER be excused or tolerated.

It is my experience that those who excuse the brutality are of the same ilk as the abusers they defend, for in their mind they must rationalize the irrational to justify their own thoughts and actions.

but that’s just my experience.

peace
