Roger Clemens had a decade-long relationship with country star Mindy McCready that began when she was a 15-year-old aspiring singer and the pitcher was a Boston Red Sox ace, the Daily News reported.
"I cannot refute anything in the story," McCready told the newspaper in a story posted on its Web site Monday night.
"I have known Roger Clemens for a long time," she said, without detailing the nature of their relationship.
Clemens' lawyer, Rusty Hardin, confirmed the pitcher and singer had known each other for a long time but told the newspaper there was no sex.
"Mindy McCready is a longtime family friend of Roger Clemens and the Clemens family," Hardin said in a statement Monday. "At no time did Roger engage in any kind of inappropriate or improper relationship with her. It is unfortunate that the Daily News has chosen to report anonymous allegations that are completely unfounded, have no basis in fact, and have nothing to do with Roger's baseball career or the issue of steroid use in baseball."
The News' original story, which appeared on the newspaper's Web site Sunday night and in editions Monday, quoted several people who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the situation.
Clemens was 28 and a married father of two when he first met McCready, the newspaper reported.
In its story Monday night, sources told the News that McCready went with Clemens to his hotel room in Fort Myers, Fla., after their first meeting but that they did not have sex. The relationship turned intimate after she later moved to Nashville and became a country star, the paper said.

What was he thinking? His wife is much hotter than Mindy McCready: http://www.debbieclemens.com/
I get the feeling there’s some folks out there who really, really, really don’t like Roger Clemons.
Partial explanation for the train wreck of her life.
a lil’ HGH never hurts, huh?
This story is all rumor and innuendo. The headline is not only misleading it is wrong. "I cannot refute anything in the story," is not the same thing as saying the story is true. Did she read the story? Would she testify under oath?
I have no idea what kind of man Clemens is, I don't know and don't care if he did use steroids or chewed tobacco, I don't know if he had sex with this woman or if she is gold digger or a useful idiot to those out to get Clemens. But it is open season now on Clemens, somebody is actively engaged in the assassination of his public reputation.
Roger Clemens is what is wrong with the Republican Party. Idiots like Danny Burton could not help falling over himself giving the POS all the love in the world when Clemens made his lying appearance before Congress.
I bet this stor came from McNamee or hsi people>
A lot of the Clemens hatred comes from political correctness. After the media destroyed Barry Bonds, they had to find a white player of similar stature to destroy, adn Rocket is the guy they went after.
Well, Canseco, whom the PC crowd seems to consider the paragon of truth, said Roger was the only player he had met who didn't cheat on his wife.
Burton (and Tom Davis) expoosed McNamee as the liar he is. Nobody showed any such thing with regard to Clemens. What makes you so sure he wasn't telling the truth?
McNamee is a lying low life. That said, Roger was TOO lawyered up. McNamee was a PERVERT who was credible in only a way a PERVERT could be in his description of the bikini that his nanny was wearing at Canseco’s party. Roger and his idiot lawyers drew a line in a sand that he was no way at Canseco’s party. I think the nanny supported McNamee’s contention that Roger attended the party. Liars such as Roger are usually caught in lies which are not material but lies which are immaterial as was the case here. If a low-life like McNamee employed with my money had injected my wife without my knowledge, I would have rearranged the pervert’s face permanently. Roger did not only beat the crap out of him which I think he was entitled to, he kept him on the payroll. Roger is a PHONY. I am a big time Yankee fan, but I still believe he was a PHONY.
The republicans are what is wrong with the republican party and anything that any one of them did in connection with Clemens’ appearance was a symptom of the overall disease. And I don’t think it was the republicans that called Clemens to testify at a hearing, not that he should have necessarily been there to begin with.
Last time I looked, Mrs Roger was WAY over 21.
McNamee simply got caught up in the “ I get to rub elbows with a star” syndrome and forgot his professional duties. I am willing to bet that I can walk into ANY clubhouse or training room in the world and find evidence of this same insidious non-professional intrusion between trainers/physicians and athletes.
Dude, is it global warming or what that we’re seeing all these hasbeens in the news? First Reverend Wright, now this hitless duo!
Roger Rabbit!
