Howard Dean sent the following email to his mailing list yesterday:
Dear Friend,
John McCain wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years. Hes said it, and its on tape.
But his campaign hates that he was caught. Theyve viciously attacked anyone who reminded the American people that he said it, including me. Theyve said that those who reference the 100 years comments are deliberately misleading voters.
So weve taken John McCains own words video of him saying that 100 years would be fine with me and made a TV ad. Theres no confusion, no distortion, no misleading its John McCain, on tape, for voters to judge on their own.
Its one of the most powerful political ads Ive ever seen. Its devastating and the McCain campaign will spend the rest of the election trying to fight it.
In addition to the McCain clip, this horrendously evil advertisement features a clip of ... American soldiers being killed by an IED.
UPDATE at 4/29/08 8:40:17 am:
Even more unbelievably, the IED clip comes from Michael Moores Fahrenheit 9/11. Its at about 1:35 in this trailer: Fahrenheit 9/11 trailers. (Hat tip: Babba.)
We have been in Cuba over 110 years.
Howard Dean: I’m lying to you and becuase you are a knuckle-dragging drooling idiot that’s chained to the Dem plantation, you are expected to believe me - or we’ll find a way to cut off all of your “Uncle Sugar” benefits.
"We're going to take from you, for the common good...."
In all seriousness, Mr. Dean, what have you ever done to make a positive impact on this country? Aborted babies? Left your church over a dispute about a bike path? Oversaw your party while it partakes in a destructive civil war?
McCain, for all his faults, has actually accomplished things that have made a difference.
How can there be “no confusion, no distortion, no misleading” when he had a clip from a documentary debunked as a crockumentary deliberately added to the commercial??
Ditto. That is just about the most damning thing Mrs. Clinton has said. It needs to be repeated over and over and over and..................
By the criteria that we are now in Iraq, we should be out of Germany: the government is stable and perfectly able to defend itself.
But this brings up a broader issue: fidelity to our commitments. Part of our trouble in Iraq at this very moment comes from where Bush 41 failed to follow through with his implied commitment after Gulf War I for the locals to overthrow Saddam, and those who were foolish enough to do so were brutally murdered. Of course the locals were reluctant to help the US the second time around. Since Vietnam, we had developed the art form of declaring victory and pulling out.
It is essential that when the President makes a commitment that it is honored even after his term is up, lest we become Euro-weasels.
This reminds us that “Fahrenheit 911” is a POS ad for the DNC - thoroughly dishonest and propagandistic, no wonder it was so beloved by Dean, McAuliffe, and all of those scumbags.
What a freak'n drama queen. Sheesh!
It was done on purpose and Dean is STILL a lying screwball.
howard dean is one of the most vile creatures I’ve ever seen or heard.
I thought the democrats didn’t appreciate misleading sound bites being made into a loop and played over and over again...like with Rev. Wright’s GD America message. The difference is McCain won’t be going to PBS’s Bill Moyers for a public backrub.
Anybody got a link to the clip? I have only seen a still capture but I think I recognize it. The soldiers appear to get blown up but are actually uninjured. If this is the clip I remember, it would be fun to put out an add that showed the rest of the clip, with the soldiers walking off unhurt.
