Having hit McCain on the economy last week, the DNC rolls out an ad today with some arresting images from Iraq going after him for his "100 years" comment and tying him to Bush.
It will air this week on cable channels.
Howard Dean offered the preview on "Meet the Press" and laid down a pre-emptive response to the McCain/GOP response that McCain was alluding to a peaceful U.S. presence in the country a la South Korea or post-WW II Germany :
Now, does anyone think who's watching this show that if you keep our troops in Iraq for 100 years, people won't be attacking them and won't be setting off suicide bombs and won't be having militias go after them? I don't think so. And most Americans don't think so."
The McCain camp deferred its response to the RNC, which noted recent reports of meetings between DNC officials and the two Democratic campaigns in charging that the ad represented an illegal in-kind contribution.
This morning we saw yet another advertisement being announced by the Democrat National Committee which is not only illegal, but a complete distortion of Senator McCains comments and record."
Said chairman Mike Duncan:
Over the course of the next six months, we expect the DNC to wage a respectful and honest campaign, which means adhering to the law. Howard Dean and the DNC should immediately cease and desist from airing these advertisements. And if the DNC fails to act, both Senators Clinton and Obama should immediately call on them to do so.
So is McCain going to fight back? He wants to be Mr. Nice Guy and have a “respectful” campaign.
Right, and the Dems are going to roll over him like a steamroller, especially if Hildabeast is the nominee, which is looking more and more likely.
No Money to fight back.
plus, it would distract from the fabulous Dem fight we are being treated to. he should lay low and let the dems continue to pummel each other.
I think an ad saying that McCain's been around since the "100 Year War" would probably be more effective and have the benefit of being slightly closer to the truth...
LOL John should consider this an in-kind contribution.
Although I am a reluctant McCain supporter, I hope he learns a LOT about the democrats that he offers up as friendly and cooperative. They’d cut his political head off if they could, and he’s pussy-footing with them, condemning the NC ad that was absolutely truthful in everything it said.
He’s getting a monstrous payback for McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Looserman. He crossed the aisle with his hand out; they DID NOT!
He’d better get it in gear, or we’ll have an anti-American, black-separatist, Marxist, empty-suited yo-yo as our president.
Good point. In fact, one has to wonder how Dean and the broken bats Dem crowd have any credibility relative to how they are prepared to run this country when they couldn't create a workable plan for their primaries and can't manage the process, their primary players or any other concept.
They are all phonies who have deluded themselves into thinking they are not inept.
