Alan Keyes on short list to become John McCain VP pick for the Republican ticket.
McCain camp will not deny.
Bravo Sierra, over!
Does anyone know much about Rob Portman? He’s a former congressman and is, I’ve heard, on the short list for VP. Is he a solid conservative? Does he have enough stature to assume the Presidency?
Twenty dollars says he picks Ms. Lindsay Graham.
JC would be a perfect running mate for McCain. He’s young and conservative; Two things McCain is not.
Somebody needs to turn themselves in to rehab.
Ron Paul sounds like a crackpot because he IS a crackpot. Occam’s razor in action.
You will no doubt be hearing from Scrappleface’s attorney.
What is your motive in equating these two men?
Clearly, they have nothing in common. To begin with, Keyes is not a baby killer.

I dont believe this. Aside from the fact that he’s widely recognized to have lost some of his marbles, Keyes would add nothing strategically since he lives in ultra-blue Maryland.
Also McCain is not going to pick someone who has never held elective office.
Keyes is about the only reason I’d leave the house to vote in November.
This ain’t gonna happen.
Why? Too many people think he’s too extreme.
If he picks Alan Keyes...heck...I’ll run for President.

“Oh, the pain, the pain!”
"No other 'third party' is as well-established as the Constitution Party," said Keyes. "They've been around since 1992, and have built a significant grassroots presence among patriotic, Constitution-minded citizens with a registered membership of over 350,000. Conservatives have a home in the CP that they can find nowhere else, given the decline in the Republican Party's credibility as a voice and vehicle for conservatism." Dr. Alan Keyes
If he picks Keys I would have to so seriously question his judgement that I might vote for Obama. But, I dont think that will happen because I don’t believe this story.
You've nailed it. When he was running for Pres. in 2000, the media went out of their way to avoid covering his candidacy. I recall one article from the NYT, I think, in which all of the other 7 candidates were discussed extensively, including the total non-entity Ralph Reed, but they only mentioned Alan Keyes in the list of 8. Nothing else, just his name. In spite of being shunned by the media, he once appreared on Larry King with George W Bush and Al Gore. He was brilliant and managed to steer the conversation into areas the MSM would never approach.
Alan Keyes would be an excellent choice as McCain's running mate, provided he could learn to tone down his rhetoric a little. It's too bad that he wouldn't get to debate Obama--That would be something to see.
You said it.
I think conservatives that denounce Keyes are either unfamiliar with his policy positions or not conservative. It seems to me that all of the arguments against Keyes boil down to ad hominem attacks because no one can beat him on substance, just like all the kids have to make fun of the child genius on the playground or he will eventually, on purpose or inadvertently reveal what idiots we all are.
JC has become a late-nite infomerical whore.
