Who Needs Friends Like Rev. Wright?

"At a political event, he goes out as a politician and says what he has to say as a politician," Reverend Jeremiah Wright told Bill Moyers in their well-publicized interview last week. "I continue to be a pastor. He's a politician. I'm a pastor."
As my mother used to say, with friends like these....
If anyone thought that the Barack Obama campaign had any control over Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the controversial former pastor and "uncle figure" whose fiery speeches reeking of anti-Israel and anti-American sentiment provided at least a jolt to the Obama campaign, the pastor has proven conclusively in his weekend burst of publicity that it just isn't so.
Just to remind you, in case there is anyone who has forgotten: Reverend Wright was for twenty years the pastor of the Obamas' church in Chicago. He married them. He baptized their children. He was widely known as a major figure in Chicago religious/political circles, much respected for his ministry and services to the poor and needy, but also viewed with great skepticism, if not worse, because of the tenor and tone of his speeches blaming America for 9/11 and Israel for the problems of the Middle East. Oprah, a former Church member and ardent Obama supporter, left the Church because of her disagreements with the Pastor. Obama, while making clear that he did not share Wright's views and leaving unclear just how familiar he was with some of them, declined to throw him overboard, as he did with others, like Harvard Professor Samantha Power, when her anti-Hillary comments conflicted with the message of his campaign.

Susie neglected to mention the almost $50k Barack has donated to Wright in the last few years.
If anybody doubts that Barack is all about racial identity and racial grievance — and not some transcendent post-racial candidate — that person is an idiot.

Wright is just one representation of the trough Obama has been drinking deeply from for the last 20+ years. It is who Obama is, and he can and should be judged by these long term, willful associations.
THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - OBAMA'S CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AND SUPPORT
Communist Party Members, Marxists, Communist Leaders, Marxist Leaders, Communist Party USA
Domestic bombers & terrorists, International Islamic Terrorist Organizations & Financiers, Fundamental Islamic Leaders
Black Liberation Preachers and militants, New Black Panther Party, Black Nation of Islam, Socialist Party
THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY AND OBAMA'S CHURCH
"Not God Bless America, no, no, no, God Damn America!" "911 is America's chickens coming home to roost"
"AIDS was created by the US for black geneocide," "If God is not for us & against whites, then he is a murderer, and we'd best kill him."
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - OBAMA'S IDEOLOGY ON DISPLAY
Che Guevara was a radical, murderous Marxist revolutionary in Argentina, Cuba, and Bolivia. He became Fidel Castro's executioner.
Why, then, is his picture proudly diplayed at Obama election Headquarters? What change does Obama intend. What is his hope?

I believe at least one of those was in the Houston HQ during the Texas primary. A local Fox affiliate in Houson took a video when they sent a reporter there.
Apparently the local FOX affiliate didn't catch the significance of it, but others who saw it immediately knew who it was and the significance of it..

What concerns me is that Jeremiah Wright is effectively carving out a Maximum Black Leader position for himself - where Farrakhan’s, Jesse Jackson’s and Al Sharpton’s more militant followers will be inspired to coalesce around him.
Is he setting in motion Obama’s defeat in order to exact retribution for the *theft of Obama’s election* by the evil white society?
OK I’m getting my tinfoil - don’t flame me;)

Jeremiah Wright is an agent of Chaos who is soon to sink the Obama campaign into Davy Jone’s locker.

Obama is covered in teflon. Wrights comments at the press conference won`t hurt him.

OK Im getting my tinfoil - dont flame me;) Plausible, you're speaking about J. Wright here.
To: Red Steel
Wright seems to believe he was once a slave.
He must be channelling John McCain - who truly was a slave for five years.........
Oh the audacity of lies and lunacy!

They had some great discussions on Wright, faith and politics on
Hardball with Chris Matthews and Rev. Eugene Rivers, on FOX with Megyn Kelly, Michael Steele, the former Lt. Governor of Maryland, and Angela McGlowan. Quite amazing actually, bringing forward black Christian leaders talking about these issues.
There is good coming out of this. They should have more debates and discussions.

Hadn't thought of that, but it makes a lot of sense.

I don't think it requires any tinfoil -- as rabid a racist as Jeremiah Wright would be pleased by Obama's defeat because that would provide much grist for the mills of hate-Whitey activism for a long time to come.
I suspect Wright views this as a win-win-win now for his cause: he now gets a much bigger platform with a much louder bullhorn than ever before. Jeremiah gets to speak his piece now to millions, will make tons of money off this when he goes on the speaking tour, writes a book etc. If Obama still wins that may be OK and Wright will have much influence, but if Obama LOSES now then that will fuel every ranting hate-whitey conpiracy theory that Wright and his ilk want to sell.

There is good coming out of this. I just hope that it doesn’t all blow up in the months to come.

It's too bad Bill Buckley is gone. They could have had a great debate on faith and politics on Firing Line with Michael Steele, J.C. Watts, Alan Keyes, Rev. Eugene Rivers, Cornel West. The discussions and debates should continue. They just need to take the controversy over theology and focus it back on Christianity. Someone should organize this.

I don`t think Wright would be sad if Obama lost. Just imagine the milelage Wright could get if Obama does lose.
To: Enchante
I agree with you. It’s a winner for Rev. Wright.
