Derbyshire has basically revealed over the past year or so that he doesn't believe in God and finds religious belief rather quaint and pointless, that he considers any patriotism that is what academics would call "uncritical" to be impossible for him, and that he essentially finds the mindset of a working-class Evangelical conservative to be embarrassing.

He is the GOP version of an Obama/Kerry elitist.

I’ll ask a question about Derbyshire that I have been asking about the many media proponents of global warming: to what extent does Derbyshire have scientific knowledge to back up his opinion? Or, is he repeating back what he has heard from others?

I love the way these guys get so epileptic about something they believe to be nonexistent.

I don't believe that UFOs are intelligent extraterrestrial life forms. However, I do not foam at the mouth denouncing those who do.

1. Derbyshire grew up in a blue collar household.

2. What is wrong with "elitism." To be an elitist is to believe in high standards, and the fact that those with talent and intelligence shoulder the burden for all of us and are the ones who ultimately advance civilization.

I think too many folks (Laura Ingraham being the most noteworthy example) confuse elitism with snobbery. They are two separate concepts.

The migration of populist retards to the Right has ruined the conservative movement, IMHO.
