OUTSPOKEN Muslim cleric Taj al-Din al-Hilali says the Bible "mandates" the wearing of the veil by Christian women.
Writing in a new book, Sheik Hilali, who lost his job as mufti of Australia after comparing scantily clad women to uncovered meat, argues that the Bible and the Koran make similar demands of a woman's modesty.
Sheik Hilali, who remains the head of Australia's largest mosque, in the southwestern Sydney suburb of Lakemba, says the purpose of the book is to show the commonalities of Islam with the Jewish and Christian faiths when it comes to women's modesty and clothing.
In the soon to be published The Legitimacy of the Veil for Women of the Scripture - Evidence of the Veil in the Bible, the cleric points to references in the Old and New Testaments to women wearing a veil.

Lemme think about that sweetie..............uh.........no.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I’d like to see the Mullah try to put a veil on my wife. She’d give him a 9mm third eye in the middle of his forehead.
I Corinthians 11:3-16 always bothered me in Bible School, because it wasn’t practiced in the conservative Baptistic circles I was used to, so I used the passage for my Greek exegesis project. I am under the conviction that it DOES compel Christian women to at LEAST use a veil or a covering of her head and hair to show man’s authority over her.
But that kind of passage is anathema to today’s feminized liberal church of today.
(donning flame suit now)
Muslim clerics should wear plastic bags over their heads. Allah wills it!!
When I was a kid, women used to wear a doilies on their heads during mass.
I do like ladies with mantillas in church, as St. Paul enjoined, and certainly one should dress somewhat modestly in public, but I don’t think Christians need any lessons from a Moslem on this matter.
I have visited a few “Holiness” churches where the women still wear doilies on their heads. And if they think you skirt is too short a female usher will throw a drape over your legs if you are sitting in the front row.
It is rumored that President Obama’s Attorney General Louis Farrakan will tell Congress to pass a law insisting that all American women be covered if they leave their home.
Senator Hillary Clinton has agreed to model such clothing. Both Democratic majorities in both Houses are expected to pass this new Diversity-in-Dress Law early in 2009.
Headline could also be: U.S. President Obama Tells Christian Women To Wear Veils
but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.
So, according to God, a woman's hair is her covering.
Scripture doesn't command that women spend their lives enslaved and being considered worth less than livestock and having their identity erased and being legally murdered at the whim of the "man" to whom she was forced to marry.
The God of the Scriptures has given men and women roles as part of His design for and institution of marriage and the family unit. He did not give women less value than men, and men and women have equal access to God and equal opportunities for salvation.
There are no similarities whatsoever between the Holy Bible and the koran, which was written by a pedophile inspired by demons.
Veils DO have their proper places.........like on brides, for instance. =)
I’m just home from church, where our guest speaker today was Ram Zango, a priest from the African nation of Burkina Faso (formerly Upper Volta). He is the son of his village’s headman and witch-doctor, who converted to Christianity while in college.
His nation is under spiritual assault by islam, which religion he considers to be the face of evil on earth. He spoke of the devil, the influence of demons in his country, and how he considers muslims to be in league with the devil.
The man is NOT “P.C”!
Plus, who’s in charge here? Some muzzie telling the Christian gals what to do? Let me tell you, buddy, we are of the clan of — Joan of Arc, Mother Theresa, Mary, etc. — and our swords are sharp. Don’t mess with us; bag your own self.
ditto
There are a good number of women at our church who wear a simple head covering. Catholic, here in Los Angeles.
A woman’s head covering is HER HAIR.
Why is it .. the ones who DON’T BELIEVE IN GOD OR IN THE BIBLE .. are the ones who are always telling us what’s in it.
