RIAA may have finally met its match.

People like this who suck off of society and have too much time on their hands are usually ,also, the president of the local Community Association and neighborhood crime watch. Goes to PTA meetings but does not have any children. Well, you get the picture.

Good story. Apparently the RIAA went after her and harrassed and tried to extort thousands of dollars for illegally downloading 2300 songs one early morning under her user name ‘Gotenkito’ only to find out that there was another user named ‘Gotenkito’ that was a young punk who was the real downloader and the RIAA didn’t even bother to go after. So now She is trying to go after the RIAA and all the music industry on wrongful persecution. They want to take it to a jury and the RIAA is doing everything in its power to stop it.

Looks like they picked on the wrong person. I’m no fan of people who download copyrighted material (never have myself), but in this case they had the wrong person and then harassed her with phone calls, threats, and finally a lawsuit. It’s a good read. And, yes, attorneys do have a purpose (sometimes!).

That wasn’t even her user name. Apparently they (RIAA) got an IP address that was varied from hour to hour (I don’t understand the difference between a static and dynamic IP address). They wouldn’t listen to her, even took her computer but didn’t find anything on it. Sounds like a script for a John Grisham book.

She looks like someone you’d want to have in your corner, though.

I don’t understand the difference between a static and dynamic IP address

Static is set in your computer, you always use that IP number. Dynamic IP addresses are 'handed' out by the web server, it changes every time your modem connects to the server.

The privacy abuses of the RIAA could easily convince a jury to believe that there are no intellectual property rights. Talk about an unintended consequence. The end of copywrite. Just a singing cause you love to sing. LOL

I think you meant that dynamic IPs are handed out by your ISP's server, usually the one or ones handling the modem pool. Web servers have nothing to do with your IP assignment.

But aggressive steps are necessary, it says, to stop rampant piracy that it figures costs the U.S. record industry at least $3.7 billion annually in sales. "The magnitude of this [theft] is incalculable," says Richard L. Gabriel, lead national counsel for the RIAA and a partner at the Denver law firm Holme,
I give, how can it be at least $3.7 billion when it is incalculable?

Just how did you come to that conclusion? She's getting disability NOT welfare.

She's going after real crooks. Whether or not you think she should be on disability, her actions in this case would seem to be providing a huge benefit to society.
