I’m in San Diego - and I heard a local report regarding the man’s condition.
Evidently, one of the legs was shredded from the knee down to the ankle, while the other leg had a very deep gash in it down to the bone.
According to the EMT’s the guy had almost bled to death before they pulled him out of the water. The blood loss was so great there was no way he could have survived.
Very sad.
Looks like the shark took him on the surface from the side, then shook.
4 years ago there was a woman swimming in the waters off Avila Beach in Central Ca. She made the mistake of swimming with seals. She was attacked by a great white. It got her in the hip area. There were lifeguards going through some tests and a couple of them swam out to try to rescue her and she was dead before they got her to shore..she bled out. It only takes about 2 minutes to beed out if the shark gets an artery.
We have sightings here every summer..and when there is..the beaches are closed..people can go to the beach but don’t go in the water.
