Parental Alienation Awareness Day - April 25, 2008
Did You Know That Parental Alienation Is a Form of Child Abuse?
MIAMI, April 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Parental Alienation Awareness Day will occur on April 25, 2008. Parental Alienation (PA) is a form of child abuse that involves the systematic persuasion and manipulation of children both overtly, and with subtle behaviors that results in the destruction of a loving relationship they once shared with a parent.
The child can suffer "collateral" damage through simple exposure to the conflict or if used as a weapon against the other parent.
PA is a case of rage over reason, and inevitably scars all involved -- children, "target" spouse, and perpetrator. For the child, such damage can last well into adulthood, a lifetime in some cases, and be the cause of tragic consequences.
Most people do not know about PA until they experience it.
Parental Alienation Awareness Day has been organized for the benefit of both: -- the children who may suffer Parental Alienation; -- the adults on whom these children depend for emotional stability -- their parents.

This is a hot topic in the Fathers Rights Movements.
Ping.
I thought PA was when my daughter is texting on her Sidekick, talking on her Cell Phone and listening to her I-Pod and ignores me until I change the channel to get the BC football score and then she says; “I was watching that.”
There, fixed it.
PA is also the scourge of all basement-dwelling DUmmies over the age of 30.
PAS is not about kicking the bird out of the nest. It's about kicking the father out of the nest. And then denying him the right to see his child.
I know many good men - good fathers - who pay their child support, yet the mother interferes with his visitation rights.
Worse yet, she brain-washes the child into believing daddy is a mean hateful b------d who never calls or visits.
Happens every day.
There are far mother mothers guilty of PAS than there are deadbeat dads who don't pay child support. Why doesn't FOX air a TV show on them?
I nominate the authorities in Texas for this award. They have kidnapped over 400 FLDS children from their mothers.
It’s really nice to see this issue have a name put to it. I’ve experience it with my own parents.
Parental Alienation Syndrome.
Does this mean I can’t yell at them today?
Parental Alienation (PA) ... involves the systematic persuasion and manipulation of children both overtly, and with subtle behaviors that results in the destruction of a loving relationship they once shared with a parent. ...
Sounds like what happens to a kid in government schools....
lol.
No, but just be glad you are not a victim of PAS. So that you CAN yell at them.
Sounds like what they are doing in Texas to all the children CPS forcefully removed from their mothers. Guess its OK for the Government to do it to multiple families.
I understand what you are saying, what I am saying is the the definition is sufficiently broad that even kicking a kid out of the nest could be called PAS by someone without the ability to argue back. Same thing has happened to the term “abuse” in general. When I was a kid, abuse meant someone was getting smacked around. Nowadays, if you disagree with your spouse, or say “no you cant go to the store because we are broke”, you can be accused of “mental abuse”. You have no idea how shocked I was to hear how “abusive” I was when I went thru my divorce because I had the audacity to tell my ex to get a job.
Oh, and just for the record, my ex practiced PAS on me with my kids ... but fortunatly the kids had eyes of thier own.
Parental Denigration
For over a year I have watched in fascination at a reality show called Little People - about two little people who have dwarfism and have created a family of three full growth children and one child (a twin) who is a dwarf.
I became interested because of my lack of knowledge about this topic but have since become aware of a terrible situation going on within the family which nobody seems to be addressing.
The little wife never misses an opportunity to correct her husband or belittle him in front of the children and other friends or family members. She spends much of her time on camera describing to the large audience her husband’s failings when it is obvious she has some terrible issues of her own.
The place is a pigsty - and I am surprised the local Oregon Health Authorities haven’t intervened with four children in the place. Her husband called in an organizing company once for her which she complained about and immediately set about redoing all their constructive ideas saying they didn’t suit ‘little people’.
Anyway - the topic here PAS is valid and has a shining example of what it reveals when played out in a television program - the kids love their father but consider him a necessary yet beloved fool.
The father - a good man who is the wage earner and doing a fine job of providing for his group. It’s difficult to watch the little woman doing her best at controlling and manipulating the family - and the children are going to be affected by it forever.
