NEW ORLEANS (AP) - John McCain toured still hurricane-damaged areas of New Orleans and declared that if the disaster had happened on his watch, he would have immediately landed his plane at the nearest Air Force base. The Republican presidential candidate is campaigning this week in what he calls forgotten areas of the country. He offered a pledge Thursday to New Orleans residents that their situation will not be forgotten and that such a botched disaster response will never happen again.
McCain was unsparing in his criticism of the Bush administration. He said Congress must share some of the blame, too.
Drawing a sharp contrast to President Bush, McCain said he would have landed his plane "at the nearest Air Force Base and come over personally."
"Barksdale is the nearest AF base. Don’t know for sure, but I can assume that it did not fare well from the hurricane."
Barksdale is near Shreveport which is in northern Louisiana. It was not impacted by the storm because it's so far away. It's also the only Air Force base in the state.
Keesler in Biloxi is pretty close, but I don't know how they fared in the storm.

Wow...never thought of that! It is entirely possible given how the democrats have been after President Bush from day one and have put their own quest for power before our nation’s security!
I remember offering my theory on the katrina threads right here on FR. Many here were joining the Rat calls of the day.
Most of those points could be honestly debated.
Gun rights? Gun-Owners of America = F, NRA = C-
Abortion? National Right to Life = 59.6%
War? Give terrorists access to our legal system, but never dribble water on the terrorist prisoners. In fact he wants to close Gitmo after leaking top-secret information concerning CIA prisons in Europe.

Years ago, my sister was living in the Virgin Islands when Hugo hit. It was two weeks before she could get off St.Croix. There was rampant looting and lawlessness and it took three or four days before the governor of St. Croix asked for federal assistance. We did not know for a week whether she was even dead or alive!
I don’t remember the dems screaming from the rooftops then nor do I EVER remember them being as ridiculous in the face of mother nature’s power as they were during Katrina!
It stands to reason though, that the same liberals that think mankind has the power to ‘change the earth’, would think that the federal government has the ‘power’ to control hurricanes and magically put everything back together again within a week of a major US city being inundated with water and the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast destroyed.... (eye roll)

So very true! However, I do not see it as a laughing matter. These commies and their enablers have done much to destroy our country. Actually, their "ability to reason" is probably intact, in so much as their reasoning relates to the destruction of our country by pushing her into the socialist/communist column.
And the sheeple continue to "baaaa" as they fall in line to go over the cliff. *shaking head*
