I’d just take the handbag with $50,000 inside.

What's really insane is what your description did to my "Latest Articles" page ... pushed the sidebars right off the page.

Hell, the Ortiz shirt they dug out of McCoombs Dam Park [the ‘new’ Yankee Stadium], is going for almost 70 large in an auction. The proceeds go for the Jimmy Fund, which helps kids with cancer, so it’s worthwhile. But it’s still a jersey.

$50k for a handbag? More money than brains is my guess. Wasteful, sinful, greedy and outrageous.
To: 2banana
Hate to tell ya this, but for some people, $50,000 is like $100 to the rest of us.

Value is simply a measure of what someone is willing to pay for an object. In this case, someone was willing to pay $50k, so it is worth $50k to that person.
Don’t look at it from that end, flip it around. Someone crafted and object that someone else considered so well done, they were willing to pay $50k for it. Don’t we all want to be in that craftsman’s shoes?

Why call $50,000 for a handbag insanity? The person who pays the price obviously has WAAAAY more money than they need for necessities and the sale just transfers some of that surplus to someone else. All voluntary and legal.
And if anyone wants status I’ll sell some of mine for way less than $50,000.

I'm still using a Levis wallet I bought at the Chelmsford Massachusetts mall in 1976.
Perhaps I should put it up for sale on eBay.
