I’ve carried government issued Blackberrys and managed two different government Blackberry servers. All devices should be affixed with an Asset ID tag with the name of the command and an inventory control number.

Methinks the guy was trying to abscond with some goodies. ;)

I agree that these are a gold mine of information. That is why I would have expected a Secret Service agent to have been posted to watch the table. They must not have had that as they had to rely on a review of surveillance camera video to figure out who took the devices.

When I read the title, I just imagined some poor slob waking next to the whitehouse, seeing some blackberrys and eating them and suddenly dozens of secret service run out, taze him, handcuff him, and send him to gitmo.

Perhaps if there had been a human attendant, this gentleman would not have been flushed out.

I’m glad they got him, I bet it’s not the first time he slurped data from peoples’ portables.

He was probably a migrant worker just there to harvest the berries.

Yes. It's called "diplomatic immunity", and our guys overseas enjoy it too.

Press Attache's have diplomatic immunity?

This reminds me of the Russian in Putin’s entourage who tried to pass counterfeit U.S. bills somewhere in New England a few years ago.

That used to happen to me all the time. But the medicated salve worked wonders.
